    Assistant Finance Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    Reporting to the Finance Manager – The Assistant Finance Manager will ensure efficient financial operations to maximize on shareholder value and prepare accurate financial reports.

    PRIMARY Duties & Responsibilities

    1. Prepare budgets and enforce all budget related control measures.
    2. Plan and manage cash flows for optimal liquidity and investment returns.
    3. Regularly review and advise the business of potential control weaknesses, gaps and areas of improvement.
    4. Engage with fund managers to ensure correct investment of funds.
    5. Timely preparation and filing of periodical returns to relevant authorities.
    6. Ensure tax compliance across the business.
    7. Timely preparation of monthly management accounts and financial performance report.
    8. Continuously check the general ledgers for accuracy and completeness.
    9. Monthly reconciliation of the investment’s registers, operational data, and bank reconciliations.
    10. Check and authorize payment vouchers.
    11. Lead the implementation of new accounting standards.
    12. Prepare financial statements for audit and prepare the audit file.
    13. Enforce internal financial controls and effect sound financial management.
    14. Ensure compliance with IAS, IFRS and other relevant regulation requirements.
    15. Prepare and submit adhoc reports on strategic and financial issues as may be required.
    16. Conduct continuous training, guidance, coaching and mentoring of the Finance team.

    Qualifications and Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance
    2. CPA (K) / ACCA qualifications
    3. Over 8 years’ experience in a busy finance environment of which 3 should be in a senior role.
    4. In depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
    5. An in-depth grasp of Kenyan Taxation regulations and Insurance regulatory requirements

    Required skills and Competencies

    1. Good communication and presentation skills at a senior level.
    2. Good analytical skills and attention to detail
    3. Strategic planning, budgeting, and management experience
