    Voice Communications (Amplifier) Officer

    About Voice

Voice is an innovative grant facility to support rights holders and groups facing marginalisation or discrimination in their efforts to exert influence in accessing productive and social services and political participation. Voice operates in a context where civic space and power is shifting at a fast pace, and often closing rather than opening; where the narrative is negative and underlining marginalisation and vulnerability, rather than the dreams and successful steps made towards a better, more inclusive world. Voice is implemented in ten countries in Africa and Asia and is an initiative of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implemented by a consortium between Hivos and Oxfam Novib.

Voice is at an interesting juncture, having just entered the three-year extension phase -which started in April 2021. In this phase all ten country teams have a full-time Linking, Learning and Amplification Officer increasing our capacity enormously at national level while having two regional roving Monitoring and Evaluation Officers (one for the Africa region and one for the Asia region). The latter are part of the Coordination Team. To serve this constellation better, we have introduced a structure of two Amplifier (Communications) Officers within the Coordination Team – one with a more external amplification focus (social) media and another one who is more focused on internal knowledge and sharing (website and Newsletters). Jointly with the Programme Manager, and Linking and Learning Coordinator, and Roving M&E officers we are strengthening the Communications strategy (Voice Amplification Strategy or V-AMP) which needs further fine-tuning.

    Job context

Reporting to the Programme Manager and Linking and Learning Coordinator within the Coordination Team, the Voice Communications/Amplifier Officer (Internal) is key in Voice’s internal communication through maintaining the website and sharing knowledge between team members. You are responsible for creating, posting and updating content in a timely and detailed manner and through internal groups or Communities of Practice, especially relating to Calls for Proposals, grantees, news, stories and the Linking & Learning components within Voice. You are also responsible for the development and publication of the monthly Newsletter VoiceMail and provide regular statistics on the website and social media presence.

In all your tasks you will closely liaise with the Voice country teams and Coordination Team to support their communication needs.
