    Information Communication Technology and Connectivity Specialist

    Chemonics seeks an information communication technology and connectivity specialist for an anticipated education project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aims to strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensure that all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, and focused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activity will also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward more digitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that are accessible to all students, especially children in the early primary grades. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    The ICT Specialist will be responsible for providing overall management of ICT related work. The ICT Specialist shall assess ICT infrastructure needs, formulating and directing information and communication technology (ICT) strategies, policies, and plans. The ICT Specialist will also provide guidance and technical assistance to the technical and management teams and will be expected to liaise closely with activity stakeholders, including but not limited to private sector actors, NGOs, CSOs, government counterparts in support of ICT related interventions. 

    Qualifications: 

    • Master’s degree in computer science, communications, or related field preferred. 
    • 5 years relevant experience
    • Experience in analyzing current customer processes and needs to identify gaps and inefficiencies and provide solutions for build/modify ICT systems
    • Experience in the translating customer needs to formal Business and IT requirements
    • Experience in evaluating various software products and technologies (including Open Source) against customer requirements to pick the best fit
    • Experience in design, development and support for Web Sites and Databases using latest software
    • Experience in designing and developing ICT systems, especially Case Management Systems, preferred
    • Experience in overseeing Software Development and Quality Assurance teams to deliver quality software systems
    • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity

    Social and Emotional Learning Specialist

    We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    The SEL Specialist will lead the implementation of the district/nationwide Social Emotional Learning strategic plan. The SEL Specialist will identify gaps in social, emotional, and behavioral atmosphere of the school and classroom and develops plans of action around priorities. The SEL works in partnership with various stakeholders, including students, parents, community organizations and mental health providers to support student social emotional learning.

    Qualifications: 

    • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or Education preferred
    • 5 years relevant experience in education preferred
    • Training in trauma-informed practices and/or restorative practices and experience teaching a social emotional curriculum to students
    • Experience working with social, emotional, and behavioral supports preferred
    • Classroom teaching or school-based management experience highly preferred

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist

    Chemonics seeks a monitoring, evaluation and learning specialist for an anticipated education project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aims to strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensure that all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, and focused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activity will also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward more digitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that are accessible to all students, especially children in the early primary grades.

    The monitoring, evaluation and learning director will collaboratively design the MEL approach to monitor and evaluate outcomes and apply learning and apply lessons learned; play a lead role interacting with Kenyan counterparts, government institutions, donors, and other key stakeholders; and evaluate the program’s impact on systems strengthening, access, retention, and learning outcomes for literacy, numeracy and social and emotional learning and life skills. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

    • 5 years designing, monitoring, and evaluating programs (in the education sector preferred).
    • Demonstrated experience and success in monitoring results and indicators of education quality, learning outcomes, access, retention, and community engagement

    Technical Director

    Chemonics seeks a technical director: digital development and distance learning (DDDL) for an anticipated education project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aims to strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensure that all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, and focused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activity will also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward more digitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that are accessible to all students, especially children in the early primary grades. The technical director for DDDL will provide advisory services on development and the use of technology for education systems, technical oversight of the project involving technology, expertise and guidance regarding the design and implementation of technical activities including: reading instruction, teaching and learning materials, assessment, pre-service and continuous professional development (including coaching), and education systems strengthening; contribute knowledge of effective school research findings and practices; review, analyze, and evaluate the effectiveness of the project’s technical approaches and recommend improvements to meet project goals; lead or closely oversee production of technology related project deliverables. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in education, curriculum development for distance learning, literacy, or a related field; PhD preferred
    • 7 years’ work experience related to management of international development projects including the application of digital tools and technologies
    • Experience leading the technical design and implementation of education activities
    • Experience working with communities, government, and other donors to support improved reading preferred
    • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English required

    Deputy Chief of Party

    Chemonics seeks a deputy chief of party for an anticipated education project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aims to strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensure that all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, and focused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activity will also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward more digitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that are accessible to all students, especially children in the early primary grades. The deputy chief of party will manage technical activities and broad project implementation; serve as the acting chief of party with responsibility for technical project implementation and management as directed; build collaborative relationships with governmental agencies, donor/client organizations, relevant private sector actors, and other nongovernmental organizations and institutions to enhance effectiveness and sustainability of project materials and interventions; and perform other tasks as assigned by the chief of party. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    Qualifications:

    • Master of Business Administration or Master’s degree in education, curriculum development, literacy, and/or distance learning highly preferred
    • Minimum five years of experience as a senior academic administrator of distance learning institution, coordinating/governing body within a higher education institution or ministry affiliate, or experience in leading large-scale enterprise projects and strategic initiatives for telecommunications enterprises and private sector engagement
    • 5 years of demonstrated experience in international development activity implementation including at least 3 years of senior program management experience, including supervision of professional and support staff
    • Expertise working within the education sector in sub-Saharan Africa. Experience in Kenya highly preferred

    • Proficiency in written and spoken English required

    Multi-Media Communications Specialist

    Chemonics seeking a multi-media communications specialist for an anticipated education project in Kenya. The Connectivity for Learning project aims to strengthen the Government of Kenya’s (GOK) education system to ensure that all classroom environments are high quality, inclusive, and focused on the learning of foundational literacy skills. The activity will also aim to expand its distance learning programming toward more digitally relevant and impactful online learning solutions that are accessible to all students, especially children in the early primary grades. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  

    The MCS will lead strategic communications work across a range of target audiences to support behavioral change  with  key stakeholders, sustainability of implementation  activities, dissemination of lessons learned and key research findings with relevant communities of practice; provide overall strategic management of program communications initiatives and campaigns; prepare quarterly reports; and provide creative ideas for using communications tools to improve the effectiveness of component activities. The Multi-media Communications Specialist develops and implements multimedia content and information technology-based multimedia products, support social media efforts including developing graphic design concepts, including photography, videos, and other impactful imagery, posting content on social media platforms.
