    Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Project Manager

    Job Description

    The Project Manager will support the management of SoCha’s current USAID portfolio of activities as well as lead select business development opportunities.

    Responsibilities : 

    1. Manage the implementation of USAID MEL activities, including both prime and subcontract awards, and serve as the SoCha Home Office primary point of contact for these awards;
    2. Periodically visit MEL project sites, including those in non-permissive environments, e.g. Nigeria, DRC, etc.
    3. Guide SoCha project staff to support performance management systems, various evaluation designs (e.g. RCT, process, etc.) and adaptive management;
    4. Lead technical proposal writing and support the drafting of cost proposals;
    5. Regularly communicate with USAID, subcontractor and prime holder representatives;
    6. Design and maintain program management processes in compliance with various USAID procedures and regulations, and
    7. Other duties as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    1. 3-5 years of experience supporting/managing USAID activities, especially MEL Platforms, as the home office primary point of contact, or equivalent;
    2. In-depth understanding of the USAID program cycle;
    3. In-depth understanding of performance management systems, monitoring and evaluation, various evaluation designs and methodologies (e.g. impact, performance, etc.) and adaptive management;
    4. Proven experience with business development and proposal writing;
    5. Ability to work unsupervised and provide remote mentoring support to staff across the world; 
    6. Strong English and analytical writing skills;
    7. Intermediate or advanced level proficiency in the use of standard desktop applications;
    8. Understanding of USAID approval processes, such as travel and consultant approvals;
    9. Facilitation skills (virtual and in person) beneficial, and 
    10. Proficiency in other languages beneficial, especially French.

    Qualified applicants may be subject to a writing test, supervised remotely.

    Location:

    Africa or Asia. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in, or are willing to relocate to, Mauritius, Nairobi, or Bangkok. SoCha is able to ensure a relevant occupational permit in all three locations, as well as cover select relocation expenses to the Mauritius location.

    Monitoring, Evaluation And Learning Project Coordinator

    Job Description

    SoCha is looking for qualified individuals to fill the role of MEL Project Coordinator to support business development activities and active MEL projects from either Nairobi, Bangkok or Mauritius.

    Responsibilities include:

    Business Development:

    1. Assist in identifying and collecting relevant information as part of preparing and writing portions of business development proposals;
    2. Undertake Country and partner research in preparation for proposal writing;
    3. Assist in identifying suitable consultants, preparing CVs to required format and writing summary paragraphs for inclusion in the proposal;
    4. Assist in field research/costing preparation through the collection of quotes (pricing research, logistics and staffing), and
    5. Contribute to business development, assisting new project preparation, strategy development and internal reporting.

    MEL Project Coordination:

    1. As part of the Corporate Project Team, serve as SoCha Head Quarters’ primary point of contact with SoCha’s field administrative officers;
    2. Provide accurate budget tracking and pipeline analysis for the program in conjunction with finance and administrative staff;
    3. Coordinate corporate contractual oversight and compliance, flagging issues for senior review when needed;
    4. Ensure that branding guidelines from SoCha and client are followed in all written deliverables;
    5. Support Project Manager, Program Directors and/or field team leadership with timeline, Gantt chart, and/or other work planning services;
    6. Assist the Team in identifying and onboarding expat consultants, coordinating with HR Manager, and
    7. Support Quality Assurance (QA) processes in line with Donor requirements

    Corporate Support:

    1. Demonstrate diplomacy and leadership to foster an atmosphere of teamwork, productivity, innovation, and support for diversity in working with contract team members;
    2. Work closely with the HR manager to coordinate the recruitment and onboarding of international consultants working on program task orders;
    3. Copyedit written deliverables and ensure that all program staff have access to appropriate templates and branding guidelines;
    4. Draft routine correspondence and proofread materials;
    5. Assist with preparation of team meetings, including chairing and secretariat duties;
    6. Assist in preparation and delivery of events, e.g. conferences, workshops etc;
    7. Respond to requests for information from project and corporate leadership;
    8. Regularly deal with multiple tasks and ensure that all the management decisions are being properly carried out and products are delivered in a timely manner;
    9. Maintain all records in line with corporate expectations, and
    10. Other duties as required to support the work of SoCha’s portfolio of work.

    Minimum qualifications and experience

    Required:

    1. Bachelor in International Development, Project Management or similar field;
    2. Experience supporting complex projects, preferably in an international development setting;
    3. Experience in coordinating logistics and administrative tasks;
    4. English language proficiency both written and spoken; French language proficiency highly desirable;
    5. Intermediate or advanced level proficiency in the use of standard desktop applications, including the ability to produce documents and presentations of all kinds using word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software tools. 
    6. Intermediate or advanced knowledge of MS Excel
    7. Understanding of basic budgeting principles;
    8. Ability to think outside of the box and make quick decisions in line with contractual requirements;
    9. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels, including with partners, peers, and consultants, and

    Preferred/beneficial:

    1. Understanding of MEL principles and practices;
    2. Experience in writing business development proposals (technical and/or cost) for donor agencies
    3. Experience in Project Coordination on USAID / donor funded projects, and 
    4. Experience in Event Management and Coordination.
