    Chairperson (County Audit Committee)

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Setting the agenda for each meeting with the committee members
    • Providing oversight on risk management, controls and governance processes and audit affairs of the county government and make appropriate recommendations to the County Executive Committee regarding internal control and audit matters.
    • Following up on the implementation of the recommendations of internal and external auditors.
    • Arranging for a periodic review of the effectiveness of the audit committee alongside its mandate
    • Demonstrating independence and impartiality in decision making which accord with the legal constitutional and policy requirement
    • Providing clarification to members on the audit committee’s responsibilities
    • Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the Board

     Requirements

    • Be a Kenyan citizen
    • Possesses at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized university in the field in which she or he has been practicing
    • Satisfy the provisions of chapter six of the constitution
    • One shall not be a past or present employee of the entity, and shall not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization which has carried out any business with Nyeri County in the last two years.
    • Have at least 10 years of experience in a senior management position, where their scope of work covered the entire organization, they were working with.
    • Be a member, in good standing, of a professional body such as: IIA, ICPAK, ICPSK; IAK;APSEA;ACFE;LSK and any other relevant professional body.
    • Be and independent proactive leader with confidence and high integrity
    • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the object, principles and functions of the Government of Nyeri County.
    • Demonstrate competence in leadership and business management
    • Possess good understanding of government operations, financial reporting and auditing
    • Possess excellent working knowledge of audit committees’ functions and risks management framework
    • Possess strong interpersonal skills and avail time to develop and monitor the committee agenda
    • Not a holder of a political office

    County Audit Committee Member

    Duties and responsibilities

    1. Providing oversight on risk management, controls and governance processes and audit affairs of the County Government Committee regarding internal control and audit matters.

    Requirements for appointment

    1. Be a Kenyan citizen

    9. Not a holder of a political office.

    Terms of service: 3 years contract on part time

    Legal Officer (Legal Clerk Assistant)

    The County Government of Nyeri wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following position:

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Supporting the County Attorney in discharge of duties as assigned in respective technical unit
    2. Supporting and maintaining accurate filling and recording system and track file movement for efficient record management and record keeping
    3. Drafting contracts, lease agreements and memorandum of understanding between the county government and its
    4. collaborators.
    5. Articulating county attorney’s position in meetings, seminars, negotiations and conventions.
    6. Initiating and undertaking research on complex and emerging issues
    7. Preparing legal opinions and briefs on behalf of the County government
    8. Researching different information to make sure the County government is acting in accordance with all applicable laws and offers recommendations on the same
    9. Drawing up and submitting service legal agreements, contracts, agreements and other legal documents in which the County government is a party
    10. Presenting information on a written or oral platform that all counsels and staff can understand
    11. Attending all monthly departmental and county meetings to ensure efficiency of the County functions.
    12. Supporting the designated county departments and agencies on legal matters
    13. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements for appointment

    • Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized institution in Kenya.
    • Kenya School of Law Post Graduate Diploma
    • At least 1 year post admission experience
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
    • Valid Practicing Certificate.

    Remuneration: As per Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)

    Terms of Employment: Three (3) Years Contract

    Assistant Animal Health Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows.
    2. Participating in sample collection and dispatch, inspecting livestock routes.
    3. Collecting data and writing technical reports.
    4. Demonstrating and training on milking techniques and external parasite control such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
    5. Carrying out vaccinations, closed castration, dehorning, ear tagging, branding, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-beaking and hoof trimming.
    6. Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
    7. Participating in animal disease research and reporting;
    8. Keeping records on animal breeding, animal health, milk production, dipping data,

    1. Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology, Animal Production and Health Management or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution in Kenya.

    19. Attending all monthly departmental and county meetings to ensure efficiency of the County functions

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized Institution in Kenya.

    • At least 4 Years post admission experience
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
    • Valid Practicing Certificate
    • Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution
    • Experience in legislative drafting and litigation shall be an added advantage.

    Interested and eligible candidates are requested to fill the internship form and attach their academic and professional qualification certificates.
    This opportunity is available to candidates who graduated from 2019 to date. Candidates awaiting to graduate in 2021 but have up to date completion letters from their institutions are eligible for consideration.
