    Technician :: Electrical Technician

    We seeks to recruit an Electrical technician who will undertake hands-on maintenance of all Sanergy assets including equipment and vehicles with an aim to reduce the MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) and increase the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure).The role is based in the coast of Kenya; Kilifi County.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Hands-on maintenance of machinery and vehicles
    • Train operators on Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance
    • Ensure operators conduct Autonomous Maintenance as specified
    • Conduct Preventive Maintenance as specified
    • Respond to breakdowns and resolve them in the shortest time
    • Record breakdown data
    • Reduce MTTR (Mean Time To Repair)to less than a day
    • Coordinate with vendors on the repair of equipment
    • Record and maintain up-to-date maintenance records.
    • Record and maintain up-to-date maintenance spare part inventory, plan for replacement of all used parts.

    Skills, Qualifications & Experience 

    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • 1+ years of experience in maintenance operations. 
    • Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance and Reliability Centered Maintenance will be preferred
    • Strong knowledge of machines and equipment.
    • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

    Lead Civil Engineer

    About the role

    We are currently seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer who will work on retrofitting Sanergy’s existing facilities and design future facilities.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work with various engineering disciplines to develop optimized layouts for various BSF production and processing facilities
    • Explore different technologies for structures and propose optimum designs based on cost-benefit analysis
    • Review/Develop civil engineering deliverables (layout, civil drawings, architectural drawings, calculations)
    • Perform design calculations for various engineering problems
    • Develop preliminary BQs and cost estimates for various civil scope of works
    • Explore different technologies for wastewater treatment system and propose optimum solution based on cost-benefit analysis
    • Explore different technologies for leachate management and propose optimum solution based on cost-benefit analysis
    • Review vendor/consultant drawings and provide technical feedback to ensure specifications are met
    • Provide engineering input to mechanical and process designs
    • Shortlist potential consultants/vendors and request designs for quotation
    • Lead meetings with consultants/vendors and ensure clarity across areas of responsibility
    • Responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of work developed by the civil engineering consultants
    • Prepare quality checklists, AM/PM lists, and facility operating procedures
    • Develop clear and transparent communication channels with other staff including Engineers, Project Manager, and Administration Staff.
    • Provide hands-on field expert level support during design and construction
    • Perform field inspections to ensure construction meets the design specifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
    • 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of various industrial structures, wastewater treatment facility, and drainage systems 
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of how multi-disciplinary engineering team functions
    • Demonstrated working knowledge or interest in structural designs
    • Experience in designing industrial facilities
    • Effective interpersonal skills to properly  represent Sanergy in an ethical and professional manner.
    • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a workstreams, set priorities, handle budgets and provide constructive  feedback to junior members

    Maintenance Fellow

    About the role

    As a maintenance fellow, you will work closely with the plant operations maintenance technical team with the objective of developing your skills and competencies to be successful in plant maintenance. The internship involves hands-on experience which will provide opportunities for your personal success and development. 

    Throughout the internship period, it is expected that you will gain valuable experience in planning and coordination of autonomous maintenance, machine diagnosis and problem-solving, facilities management, BM data collection, and analysis.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Support in daily AM checks in the Greenhouses (check the condition of the beds, the floor and drainage system, lighting, power DB, AHUs, NH3 sensors, and the status of the doors)
    • Escalate issues that require the attention of the AMM  for immediate resolution
    • Capture and log in all breakdowns in the maintenance data log (machine, downtime incurred, root cause of breakdown)
    • Work with the facilities technician in maintaining the facilities grounds and machines (cleanliness, civil repairs, and building maintenance services)
    • Work with the factory technicians in maintaining the factory machines (AM, PM, BM)
    • Undertake any other activity assigned by the Assistant Maintenance Manager

    Requirements:

    R&D Specialist 3, Kinanie

    Sanergy has just finished construction of a large scale waste treatment facility capable of converting organic wastes into insect protein, organic fertilizer and briquettes. We have been successfully rearing the black soldier fly (BSF), using the larvae to convert wastes into valuable proteins and frass. The protein is high quality, capable of replacing fishmeal as more sustainable protein input closing the loop. Now, we want to create even more value from this process by improving volume, cost and quality with formulation and process improvements.

    Your role

    • Own the project portfolio for a BSF process unit: Lead the prioritization of R&D breeding team projects with the R&D Improve Manager and decide what the team should focus on now, and work on next. 
    • Drive process development through R&D:  to optimise a unit process within the BSF technology platform, focusing on improving yields, health and overall performance
    • Test and trial: conduct bench and pilot scale research to determine feasibility and capability of new project ideas. Test new products in the field, and with customers.
    • Own R&D unit targets: from solution identification to trial sequencing and implementationCoordinate and execute trials, equipment scoping, handover documentation and training for Operations team
    • Keep at the cutting edge: Conduct regular literature reviews, competition/peer engagements and process data reviews to remain up to date in composting and bioconversion technology, and generate further research leads
    • Maintain product and process specifications: Own and develop specifications for products and processes
    • Coordinate and manage your unit to success: Lead a small team to deliver R&D targets for a process unit. Support team work planning and solving blocks to successful project delivery.
    • Tie your work to the business: Perform cost/benefit analyses to determine marginal profitability of improvements

    Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    • Degree in Science- or Engineering-related field
    • Advantageous: experience with BSF rearing or similar processes, experience with bioconversion processes; practical experience converting organic wastes into valuable products
    • Proficiency with Office suite tools or equivalent especially in Excel skills: you have used Excel or an equivalent tool to collect and analyse data, build models
    • Proficiency in experimental and trial design, working knowledge of statistics: you know your way around standard metrics, and how to set up controlled experiments, especially in production environments
    • Strong problem-solving skills: you have shown the ability to abstract and solve ambiguous, challenging problems
    • Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills: you have demonstrable ability to manage projects and use basic project management skills
    • Attention to detail: you have shown that you are thorough, detail-oriented, don’t make assumptions, check and validate yours and others’ work, you catch typos and errors
    • Clear communication: you capture your thoughts and theories in writing, you write great emails, you communicate at the right level to the right audience, you use formatting and templates to highlight key information, you use pictures, graphs and visuals to communicate complex topics effectively
