    Senior Project Engineer

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We’re looking for a Senior Project Engineer who will be in charge of ensuring that our projects are running smoothly from conception to completion. They will also provide mentorship to the engineering team members to ensure growth and development in the team. Finally, they will act as the manufacturing toll gate for the product development process by making sure that the process is highly efficient and cost effective.

    Project management:

    1. Prepare, coordinate and monitor projects from the initial conception to final completion. This will include:
    2. Scoping all the aspects of a project, carrying out research into the aspects that are unknown to have enough context to be within realistic timelines
    3. Keeping all the stakeholders accountable and informed by creating a process that stakeholders can feed into for seamless execution of big projects
    4. Seeking knowledge about our manufacturing processes to understand all interdependencies and make suggestions that can ease the manufacturing process for most projects
    5. Recognizing risks that can affect the timeline or budget of projects and taking relevant measures to avoid failures

    Mentorship and Coaching:

    1. Providing constant mentorship and coaching to the engineering team
    2. Guiding and supporting the engineering team in process improvement projects on reducing delay or operating frustrations
    3. Assigning responsibilities and tasks across all engineers to meet the departments objectives and key results
    4. Reviewing the company’s and manufacturing goals to identify how the engineering department contributes and create a department’s scorecard that supports the overall vision
    5. Attending manufacturing war rooms as needed to understand how to serve the production team better and understand where the partnership is failing

    Being the manufacturing toll gate for the product development process:

    1. Ensuring that the product designs agreed on are the most cost effective but not compromising on the functionality attributes
    2. Making sure that the design team is creating designs that enhance easiness in the manufacturing process
    3. Bringing in the manufacturing problem solving aspect into the design process, understand other constraints that the design team may not be aware of and give alternatives
    4. Sourcing for technical engineer(s) when needed and working with them to understand the information they gather and communicate the impact to the design team

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    1. You possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or any related field
    2. You have at least one year experience in process and project engineering within a manufacturing setting
    3. You have experience in managing a team and working cross functionally across different departments 
    4. You possess great organization and project management skills 
    5. You have strong problem solving and decision-making skills
    6. Prior experience working in a wood working industry is a plus

    Head of Supply Chain

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Our Procurement Inbound team brings materials from around the world to our factory, where they’re crafted into furniture that make tens of thousands of families happy.  Moko’s Head of Supply Chain will deepen and diversify our supplier relationships in Kenya and across the globe (China, Europe, Africa and expanding); build our internal competencies and processes and deliver a support function expertly handling our current multi-million-dollar annual purchase budget and seamlessly scaling with the company’s product development and manufacturing plans, domestically, and as we expand internationally.

    JOB ROLES

    1. Lead our Multi-million-dollar Raw Materials Sourcing:
    2. Deliver consistent, fairly priced supply of all raw materials to our Production facility
    3. Identify, engage, on-board, train and retain suppliers, both internationally and locally, with a focus on geographic diversification and alternate sources of supply
    4. Manage raw material delivery from order placement to receipting, driving QC, efficient and effective international shipping, customs clearance and domestic logistics
    5. Use your market knowledge, relationships and experience to identify and mitigate supply risks and generate business opportunities

    Optimize our Other Sourcing Activities:

    1. Formalize the Procurement team as the primary sourcing and purchasing unit for the business, working with other departments to organize and centralize Procurement activities
    2. Enhance the ways we source and purchase services

    Manage Cash Flow:

    1. Avoid over- and/or under-stocking
    2. Manage vendor payment profiles and ensure purchase commitments are tailored to available cash
    3. Develop tools to ensure optimal buying for planned future production
    4. Identify and execute cash-saving initiatives

    Manage the Team:

    1. Establish the tone from the top for the Procurement team
    2. Support the team with their personal development to enable a high-performing unit
    3. Implement a culture of continuous improvement in sourcing and supply
    4. Represent the Procurement team in relations with senior management and toward other teams
    5. Deliver against approved annual and quarterly targets

    Other Responsibilities:

    1. Key member of the automation steering committee
    2. Recommend IT/management systems for Procurement and Inbound Logistics activities
    3. Provide guidance and thought partnering to senior management in matters of supply
    4. Key support role for our Mauritius parent company, through which all international purchases are made
    5. One of our key representatives with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the Port Authorities and the Customs Inspectorate

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    1. You have at least 7 years’ experience leading Sourcing and Supply Chain management for manufacturing in a complex global environment, (10 years, if there’s no team management experience)
    2. You have strong working knowledge of import/export practices and regulations
    3. You have strong people management skills and excel at building key internal and external relationships
    4. You have a well-developed analytical ability and high level of attention to detail
    5. You are eager to join a quickly-growing organization and team
