    Nutritionist

    Job Description

    Overall Function:

    The Nutritionist is responsible for providing nutrition services in HIV/TB patient management, and MNCH clinics in supported health care facilities.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Promoting maternal infant and young child feeding programs
    • Developing and disseminating nutrition behavior change communication, information, education and communication materials;
    • Conducting nutrition assessments
    • Counseling of patients with specific nutritional needs
    • Providing nutrition health education and demonstrations
    • Implementing outpatient and inpatient supplementary and therapeutic feeding programs and evaluating outcomes;
    • Providing micronutrient supplementation
    • Collecting and compiling nutrition and dietetic data; and
    • Conduct any other duty as may be prescribed by the supervisor

    Qualifications and Requirements

    For appointment to the post of Nutritionist, a candidate must;

    • Have a Diploma in Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized training institution
    • Have a valid Registration by the Council of the Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians (CIND)
    • At least 2 years’ work experience including Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) services
    • Experience working with MOH/County systems and personnel will be an added advantage
    • Experience working in PEPFAR funded projects is an added advantage
    • Should be self-motivated
    • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Computer literacy

    Successful candidates will be supervised by their respective hospital/facility health management team (HMT) from the Ministry of Health in conjunction with the CHS Program team.
