    Assistant Director, Communication

    Job Description

    The Assistant Director will be reporting to the Chief Officer. Devolution. Public Service and Administration.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • In Coordination with the departments, will support and strengthen the implementation of the activities and ultimately strengthen the quality of communication work;
    • In collaboration with the departments will lead a process to incorporate a participatory approach to public participation and communications within the County:
    • Provide input and support to other units in Public Service Management in the development of the communications policies and strategies;
    • Represent effectively the office at forums and workshops and use these opportunities to advance the Governor's policies:
    • Networking and partnership building;
    • Support the maintenance of constructive working relations with media. Kenya Government, civil society and partner organizations;
    • Responsible for public relations, news releases and other media work, design and success of news events/conferences.
    • Generate high quality materials on County work, strengthen dissemination to relevant partners.
    • Liaise with other departments to ensure that there is synergy in the implementation of activities;
    • Provide support and information to identify opportunities for organizational learning initiatives;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned/delegated by Senior Officers.

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Degree in Mass Communication or equivalent
    • Five years relevant experience and must have managed communication in a busy organization.
    • Must have a Certificate in Senior Management Course in Public Service or its equivalent in other sectors
    • Certificate in computer applications
    • High degree of professional competence and administrative capabilities Knowledge and understanding of government policy and communication methodologies
    • Excellent written and oral communication
    • Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    Terms of service: Permanent
