Project Director at Dignitas Project

Job Description

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to serve as Project Director in Kenya. The Project Director will lead the creation and implementation of the project that will deliver continuous professional development projects for heads of schools. She/he will be responsible for developing programmatic and funding partnerships that enable the future growth of the project.

The Project Director will report to the Executive Director of Dignitas and the Co-Founder of Global School Leaders.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate Project Activities
  • Create project calendar and ensure timely implementation of all activities, with appropriate risk management
  • Coordinate communication between GSL, Dignitas and AET
  • Coordinate Curriculum design with Dignitas and GSL academic teams
  • Coordinate design and implementation of MEL plan with Dignitas, GSL and AET teams
  • Manage Project Advisory Board
  • Manage Project staff
• Lead Policy-related Activities
  • Develop and maintain necessary partnerships with national and county entities, including Ministry of Education and Teachers Service Commission
  • Secure all necessary permissions for work with head teachers
  • Recruit and maintain working group of organizations with an interest in school leadership
  • Research and author white paper(s) on various aspects of school leadership in Kenya
• Manage Fundraising and Financial Processes
  • Identify growth opportunities for the project with funders and other NGO partners
  • Work with Dignitas and GSL to identify additional funding commitments for the project and create a sustainable funding base for the growth of the project.
  • Document project activities, including preparation and presentation of reports to key stakeholders including donors, board, etc.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive marketing and branding plans to ensure external support and internal clarity for the organization.
  • Oversee the financial status of the project including monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

• Masters’ degree in education, policy or related fields
• At least 8 (eight) years of overall professional experience
• Prior education, nonprofit, or social sector experience ideal
• Experience leading a team
• Excellent coalition building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills
• Experience and proclivity to be an outgoing spokesperson, relationship builder, and fundraiser Key skills, mindsets, and knowledge to be successful in the role include:

Work Location and Remuneration

The candidate will be based in Nairobi but must have the ability to travel to various parts of Kenya as required. There may potentially be some international travel involved and the candidate must have the ability to do so. Salary is commensurate with experience and competitive with the non-profit education sector in Kenya.
