    Principal Engineer - VAS & Internal IT Services Assurance

    Description

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Business Assurance department within the Corporate Security division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Brief Posting Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager-Network Quality Assurance, the individual serves to provide independent assurance to the business on service availability on all IT systems along the customer and revenue path to ensure high availability and stability through Quality control and analysis on business key services availability and performance measurement, monitoring and reporting.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Develop KPIs to monitor and assess service uptime and availability of key internal systems.
    • Establish independent Service Quality Metrics for service availability, monitoring and reporting
    • Monitor system performance of key IT systems along the revenue path and relate to potential revenue loss/Customer experience
    • Review critical interfaces within the network and evaluate integrity of the endpoints between the core systems.
    • Review system change work instructions prior to change and perform assurance tests after the change with a view to ensure the change does not adversely affect the integrity of the system.
    • Investigate, analyze, and translate into potential revenues, service degradation or loss/outage of network affecting revenue channels (M-PESA/Billing/CRM/POS/Dealer Management systems etc.).
    • Perform Platform integrity across customer facing systems.
    • Support in change management reviews and approvals and regression tests on all top systems changes/upgrades/roll-backs made to ensure customer experience and revenues are not affected
    • Detect, investigate, document and follow up until resolution all quality of service issues.
    • Perform regular and on demand quality assurance and investigative product tests to assure performance, quality and billing.
    • Ensuring new technologies integration and products are performing as per perceived plans

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecom engineering /electrical& electronics engineering/IT or similar discipline from a recognized university
    • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in a GSM or similar environment.
    • At least two years of experience in a similar role with exposure to a dynamic IT Environment.
    • Ability to analyze significant amounts of data and information and be able to monitor and explain trends and variances
    • Capability to draft, summarize and articulate risk in formal management reports
    • Developed interpersonal and communication skills
    • High level experience and skills working with stakeholders
    • Result and detail oriented;
