    Protection Intern

    Vacancy Notice No. HRTK/KEN/P-I/09/19

    Location: Main Office- Mimosa.

    Duration: 6 Months

    Reporting to: Protection Officer

    HIAS seeks to recruit for a Protection Intern who will be expected to contribute towards meeting the program overall goal which is to enhance protection of refugees by promoting and protecting their rights.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development and implementation of the HIAS Kenya program strategy
    • Research, development of training curricula and conduct presentations on a need to basis in line with the program goals and objectives
    • Follow up on cases and provide refugees counseling and feedback on the status and processing of individual cases;
    • Maintenance of the Protection database
    • Assist in preparation of project related reports.
    • Assist in organization and facilitation of protection committees.
    • Assist in organization and facilitation of community empowerment forum.
    • Assist in organization and facilitation of orientation workshop.
    • Fill in the various protection forms
    • Maintain a database and an individual case management strategy for protection cases ;
    • Assist in the development of IEC materials on protection; and,
    • Produce accurate, detailed and timely reports highlighting objectives, achievements and impact on project activities.
    • Performing other duties as required.

    Job Specifications

    • Minimum academic attainment required: university degree in law, International studies and/or related studies. Those in the final year of study are also eligible to apply)
    • Languages required (read, write, speak and understand): proficiency in English, knowledge of Kiswahili
    • Good Computer skills
    • Core competencies: Team work and accountability
    • Values: Integrity and Respect for Diversity
    • Previous work experience preferably in an NGO sector and knowledge of the refugee sector is an added advantage.
