    Communications Assistant - The Institute for Social Accountability

    Job Summary

    We're searching for an enthusiastic communicator. You'll need to be committed to day-to-daycommunication tasks; a team player who can also work independently and courageously take onnew tasks.
    The Communications Assistant will primarily support the implementation of the communicationsstrategy consistent with the organization’s mission, key messaging, core outcomes and area of excellence.

    Required Skills

    • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Development Communication or a related field,and at least 1-year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative.
    • The ability to communicate simply, clearly and effectively with excellent written skills.
    • Experience and excellent skills in the use of communications technology (specifically inwriting, website and social media management).
    • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office business application software.
    • Possess ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
    • Be passionate, proactive and a team player.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent oral and written skills in English. Fluency in Kiswahili preferred.
    • Excellent photography and videography skills - Working knowledge of photo editing software and video production (InDesign and/or Adobe Illustrator) will be an added advantage.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop specific communication plans.
    • Success story documentation: Work with the Programs team to develop success storiesfor wider dissemination to stakeholders.
    • In coordination with Program teams prepare and distribute information, education and communications material to target audiences.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly organizational newsletters.
    • Knowledge management: Ensure the TISA repository and shared folders are updated atleast on a monthly basis with all the necessary documents.
    • Contribute to building the TISA photo database/video library: Continuously highlight TISA interventions through photography and video documentation.
    • Develop written stories, photos and videos to support visibility, fundraising, PR, advocacy.
    • Contribute to the design, editing, branding formatting of reports, PowerPoint presentations, brochures and communication materials as assigned.
    • Media monitoring: Identify media opportunities to promote TISA’s programs.
    • Develop content for TISA social media accounts and update TISA’s website and socialmedia platforms. Track queries by the public and news media in a timely manner.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Contribute to programs report development.
    • Assist with the coordination and logistical preparation for events.
