Information Technology Manager at WTS Energy

The Company is involved in power generation. It aims to provide reliable, low cost power to the Kenya national grid. To strengthen the Information and Technology, they are looking for a highly motivated and experienced IT Manager. The individual will have responsibility for partnering cross functionally to implement company-wide strategic technology initiatives, using an active and practical approach to direct all employees in IT and to attain the company’s strategic growth and technology goals.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintains organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining and delivering long and short-term strategic plans for implementing information technologies;
• Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices,  and user projects;
• Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes;
• Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages;
• Identification of companies' telecommunication needs;
• Set-up of more advanced telephone and voice mail systems for both internal and external communications;
• Manage and operate Telephony/VoIP and SCADA infrastructure;
• Manage information technology and computer systems for Site and Nairobi office operations;
• Overseeing the annual IT budget and ensuring cost effectiveness;
• Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems;
• Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance;
• Selecting and purchasing new and replacement hardware and software, when necessary;
• Testing, troubleshooting, and modifying information systems so that they operate effectively;
• Generating performance reports for operating systems;
• Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations;
• Evaluating technology risks in order to develop a network disaster recovery plan and backup procedures;
• Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.

The above duties and responsibilities may be varied from time to time and include any other responsibilities that arise during the day to day business of the Company.

Information Technology Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field;
• Proven 2-5 experience in managing IT infrastructure and services, Project Management and cyber security;
• Experience on any ERP related software i.e. SAGE;
• Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation;
• Proficient in computer hardware, cabling installation and support, wireless technology applications and interface, and IT security.
