    Procurement Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The Procurement unit would like to harness the business-oriented analysis skills to better achieve its strategic goals of being agile, being reliable & cost efficient, supporting quality & safety, and strengthening national capacities & markets. With the intern on board we look forward to promote end-to-end visibility on procurement function, and leverage advanced analytics and optimization tools.
    • Under the direct supervision of the Procurement Officer, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision.

    The tasks to be assigned to the intern include but are not limited to:

    • Support on purchase requisitions and data analysis on prices and other key data points

    Innovations Intern

    BACKGROUND

    • The Innovation Unit is seeking an intern to support various Innovation projects under the Innovation Consultancy Services. The applicant would support various workshops with planning, co-facilitation and reporting, support field research projects, testing solutions and the documentations of all processes.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    Working in collaboration with Project Managers and Innovation Managers, the Innovations Unit Intern will support innovation projects as follows: 

    • Assist in the organisation and preparation for events, meetings, innovation boot-camps and workshops (in person and virtual). 
    • Support the facilitation of Innovation Workshops.
    • Conduct user research and community engagement regarding issues on innovations in the humanitarian sector. 
    • Assist in writing research reports including creative visualisation of the insights collected.

    Risk and Compliance Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The risk unit is looking for an intern to support critical unit functions, here in Nairobi. It is a great opportunity to see how the risks are managed, compliance is enhanced and get exposure to both field missions as well as the office-based workplan in Nairobi.

    • Assist in developing data protection risk mitigation measures, and monitor their implementation with respective units/offices

    National Development Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    Management Services Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • Management Services, especially the asset management and stores docket currently manages the assets received for the CO and dispatched to various offices and this workload is quite heavy and challenging as any errors can lead to loss of resources, damage of assets and in accurate data of the assets as well as the respective custodians of said assets, as well as the risk of theft in the stores.

    • The intern will work with Staff in asset and stores section in day-to-day activities.

    Supply Chain Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The Supply Chain unit is looking for an intern to support the unit in the various activities as will be assigned by the Supervisor or designated authority.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Under direct supervision of the Logistics Officer or delegated authority, provide support to Logistics operation and activities, following the standards processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

    ICT Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • To learn basic IT operation process by working with IT colleagues to deliver standard software and hardware support services, as well as monitor and maintain a wide range of information sources, to contribute to the effective delivery of IT services.

    Beneficiary Services Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    Accountability to affected populations (AAP) is one of the core values that helps WFP to provide the best possible service to the people it assists. WFP’s commitment to AAP is founded on two main principles:

    Procurement Assistant G5

    JOB PURPOSE

    • To perform and apply appropriate processes, procedures and policies that support the efficient and effective procurement services.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Perform administrative procurement activities in a timely and efficient manner, to support Professional staff in the acquisition of goods and services for efficient field operations.

    Security Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The security unit is looking for an intern to support critical unit functions, here in Nairobi. It is a great opportunity to see how the security unit works and get exposure to both field missions ‘life’ as well as the office-based workplan in Nairobi.
    • The unit consists of three security colleagues well capable of supporting in the development of security risk management strategy and leading in its implementation to ensure safety and security of staff.     The intern, reporting to the Security Officer, is expected to participate and support in the following areas:

    • SSAFE Training Hub: KCO security, in partnership with a training provider has established a hub to cater for security training needs for the country and the region. The intern will be a key asset in running the administration of the trainings, assessing the staff needs and ensuring overall success of the sessions conducted. 
    • Communications and Reporting:  Emergency communication to staff on safety and security is a key tenet of duty of care. The intern will be involved in the management of the various platforms used for communication including routine testing.

    Nutrition Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The Nutrition Unit sits within the Programme Support Unit (PSU) where it provides technical support relating to nutrition to the outcome areas. WFP Kenya launched its Country Strategic Plan (2023-2027) in July 2023. Nutrition has been integrated across the strategic outcome areas. Under strategic outcome one, the focus is on emergency contexts in Kenya having equitable access to adequate, safe, nutritious food, and inclusive, gender-responsive, nutrition-sensitive pathways to self-reliance. Strategic outcome two considers support to food insecure and nutritionally vulnerable populations to benefit from more nutrition-sensitive value chains that expand dietary diversity and healthy diets.
    • Strategic outcome three focuses on capacity-strengthening support to national and county institutions and partners for Kenya’s inclusive, nutrition-sensitive, shock-responsive social safety nets and social protection systems and programmes to strengthen Kenya’s adaptive capacity to prepare for and respond to shocks.

    The unit works on the following areas: 

    • Providing technical advice to the Country Office and Area Offices on programme and policy issues, including assessment and analysis, activities, and transfer modalities for nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programming in line with WFP standards and processes.
    • Programme design and implementation of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions as well as proposal writing for resource mobilization efforts.
    • Design, implement, and analyse assessments in collaboration with VAM and M&E units at the country office level. Assess the food and nutrient gap to identify multisectoral opportunities and entry points that contribute to improving the nutrition situation for households.
    • Managing partnerships, including inter-agency collaboration, to ensure a robust multisectoral response to nutrition in both emergency and non-emergency settings.
    • Develops and implements social behaviour change communication activities for nutrition in the country office.
    • Track and analyze data to provide input into reporting activities and contribute to the review of annual country reports.
    • Emergency preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations on contingency planning, risk analysis, and early warning related to nutrition risks.

    Under the overall supervision of the Head of Nutrition, the incumbent will perform the following duties: –

    • Support developing and implementing nutrition-specific and sensitive activities and monitoring processes per the CSP.
    • Respond to routine queries with readily available support by senior staff and escalate where appropriate to provide a timely and accurate response to inquiries.
    • Conduct field visits to project sites to monitor the implementation of projects and support with the preparations and conducting of mission visits to project sites by senior WFP officers or donors.
    • Assisted in preparing nutrition-related reports and data analysis and ensuring deliverables adhered to WFP corporate standards and quality controls.
    • Contribute to the writing of reports and funding proposals/concepts notes.
