    Programme Specialist - Resilience, ( P-3)

    How can you make a difference?

    The post of Programme Specialist (Resilience) is part of the Emergency Unit and will focus on integration of resilience approaches into the UNICEF Somalia Programmes.

    Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

    • Facilitate the implementation of resilience approaches for UNICEF Country Office by ensuring work plan and activities are formulated, implemented and monitored.
    • Act as the programme coordinator and focal point for the Joint Resilience Action and all other cross-sectoral and inter-agency resilience programmes.
    • Support inter-sect oral partnership and capacity building, within the office using tools and guidance from UNICEF and other agencies and partners.
    • Provide support to sections develop resilience programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation and follow up to ensure realization of complementary programming and transitions is followed up.
    • Provide support to the Emergency Manager to maintain broader partnerships on resilience and ensure coordination of UNICEF's work in resilience with relevant partners.
    • Support knowledge management, M & E, and lessons learnt arising from implementation of resilience approaches through drafting/finalizing key documents, reports, updates and briefing notes; sharing good practices, lessons learned, and knowledge/information exchange; managing office partnerships with research institutions and other knowledge partners to ensure continued generation of evidence baselines
    • Optimum Use of Resilience Programme Funds by ensuring sections expenditure patterns are within the approved budgets.
    • Carry out other related duties as required by the Emergency Manager

    Impact of Results

    Support to programmes ensure the integration of resilience approaches across sectors. Contributes to operationalization decisions that can influence collaboration with other resilience across Somalia.

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

    • Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines,
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation and administration.
    • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
    • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
