    Regional Logistics Manager

     

    Key Areas of Accountability:

     

    The Regional Logistics Manager will be responsible for support to SCI Country Offices in the region through;

     

    • Support Country offices and the ESARO in establishing Framework agreements and Supplier databases
    • Carrying out Fleet analysis and support CO Heads of Logistics to manage the fleet
    • Support selected country offices in implementation of Supply Chain Management Plans
    • Support CO Logs to get Procurement Plans per award
    • Carrying out Logistics compliance and capacity assessments
    • Monitoring logistics performance through reviewing monthly logistics reports for selected Country Offices
    • Helping country office logistics teams implement their outstanding Logistics related audit recommendations
    • Assisting Country office Logistics teams mount rapid and effective emergency response operations – when disasters occur
    • Preparing country office visit reports and following up for implementation of recommendations
    • Provide technical advice and support when and if requested
    • Foresee and plan CO needs and communicate these to the relevant personnel /Leadership to initiate action
    • Facilitate and support the training and awareness creations events to increase understanding of Logs systems within COs
    • Follow up and provide feedback on the monthly KPI and Logs narrative reports
    • Facilitate and support the implementation of Warehouse(TiM) and the roll out of procurement Software in ESA region.
    • Remain aware of the evolving security situation, adapting logistics activities accordingly and ensuring new emergency operations are effectively supported.
    • To execute the above responsibilities, the role will involve short term assignments of about two to three weeks’ duration to country offices based on pre-agreed Terms of Reference and Support and Participate in internal and external events to represent Logistics.
    • The role will also involve continuous liaison and work with CO Logistics teams’ stakeholders and senior management to get support required for the Logs department.

    Qualifications and Experience

     

    Essential:

     

    • A Degree in Supply Chain/ Logistics or related area
    • At least 3 years’ experience as logistics management level at a Regional/Country level in the NGO sector, within complex/large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments.
    • 1 – 3 years’ international experience is must. Experience at Regional Logistics management level a strong advantage.
      Proven experience in all technical areas of logistics operations including procurement, transport/distribution, warehousing and stock management, fleet management, asset management, communications, and security
    • Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure
    • Experience working with large institutional donors and knowledge of their rules and regulations
    • Ability to synthesize and analyze information, and make clear, informed decisions
    • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
    • Strong planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
    • Experience in developing the capacity of logistics staff through the use of training, performance management frameworks and development plans.
    • Experience in development and implementation of efficient logistics systems, policies and procedures.
    • Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
    • Cross-cultural experience, understanding and sensitivity
    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the East and Southern Africa region
    • Commitment to Save the Children values

    Desirable

     

    • Experience in developing Emergency Preparedness Plans and Disaster Risk Reduction activities
    • Experience in developing and carrying out staff training programmes
    • Experience in technical programme support in areas of construction, distribution, medical supply chain, water and sanitation
    • Previous experience working for Save the Children International or members
    • Membership of Professional body in Logistics

    Fluent in English, Swahili or Arabic
