    Chief Innovation Officer

    Responsibilities:

    • Play a key leadership role in setting vision for building influence in the maternal health landscape.
    • Manage and expand our portfolio of innovation and research projects, encompassing global best practices in continuous quality improvement, mobile health, and behavioral economics.
    • Manage, mentor, and build our team of project managers, research managers, quality improvement and data specialists.
    • Contribute Jacaranda’s insights into maternal health-seeking behavior, behavioral economics, human centered design, and demand generation.
    • Help coordinate our partnerships with government facilities and other implementing partners – and insights into build health systems, and use our evidence to influence local policy and practice.
    • Coordinate strategic planning around Jacaranda’s research activities, identifying and securing partnerships and funding for implementation science research.
    • Support our capacity for technology innovation (our creative customer-facing SMS and WhatsApp programs)
    • Expand Jacaranda’s influence in the maternal and child health landscape through publication of academic papers and presentation at conferences

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant advanced degree preferred, and 10+ years of experience
    • Proven experience building partnerships and securing resources:
    • Experience leading and building diverse, high-performing teams
    • Exceptional communication and project management skills
    • Success securing grants and contract partnerships
    • Strong grasp of maternal health challenges and opportunities
    • Strong data, analytical and decision-making skills
    • Experience working with academic partners and liaising with researchers: you don’t have to be a researcher but should be comfortable managing them.
    • Desired: experience with Kenyan government partners at the county or ministry level.
    • Two-year minimum commitment required
