    Nutrition Specialist

    Purpose of the Position

    Under the supervision of the P4 Nutrition Specialist, Maternal and Child Nutrition Manager, and the supervisors within the NDMA, the incumbent will design, plan, implement, and manage the integration of Nutrition priorities within the NDMA Government commitment to End Drought Emergencies by 2022. This incumbent will ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness, and to help ensure delivery and accomplishment of UNICEF's contribution to delivering on Ending Drought Emergencies.

    Key Expected Results

    1. Timely sectoral analysis, input, support and collaboration to the Nutrition Resilience Situation Analysis and its periodic update made for effective project planning, development and management.
    2. Knowledge management effectively promoted through drafting/finalizing key Nutrition sectoral resilience programme documents and reports, sharing good practice, lessons learned, and ensuring knowledge/information exchange. 
    3. Quality of rights-based Nutrition resilience projects /programmes effectively promoted, and coherence, synergy and value added to project management process through results-based management.
    4. Sectoral work plan and activities formulated for nutrition resilience, implemented and monitored, ensuring alignment with the defined project strategies and approaches.
    5. Nutrition resilience project delivery, evaluation and reporting carried out efficiently, rigorously and transparently in compliance with the established guidelines and procedures.

    Qualifications of Successful Candidate 

    • Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: public health and nutrition, health sciences, international health and nutrition, public health and nutrition policy and management, family health and nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, health and nutrition education, health and nutrition promotion and disease prevention, public health, health emergency preparedness, or other relevant discipline(s)

     Experience:

    • Five years of relevant professional work experience, including in a developing country, in public health and nutrition
    • Background/familiarity with emergency situations
