    Capacity Building Manager for Africa

    Responsibilities:

    The Capacity Building Manager for Africa's primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting the Regional Director for Africa, Director of Capacity Building and other members of the regional team in designing, facilitating, and implementing effective capacity-building strategies and initiatives;
    • Helping identify, build and maintain partnerships with NGOs, and other key stakeholders;
    • Working in coordination with civil society organizations, judiciary, academics and other external stakeholders, to further the capacity-building objectives of the Center;
    • Researching and monitoring developments and trends in capacity-building initiatives and methodologies; compiling and developing resources and tools to inform program strategy;
    • Identifying, documenting and applying best practices in capacity-building initiatives;
    • Assisting the design and development of training modules, as relevant;
    • Supporting the Africa Program's analysis and assessment of capacity building needs, development of capacity-building measurement tools and strategies, and creation of advocacy plans for specific partners;
    • Developing training plans and monitoring and reporting on plan implementation;
    • Monitoring and reviewing the impact of capacity-building support, and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives;
    • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a virtual platform for advocates to share strategies and tactics and learn from one another's experiences, in addition to facilitating online trainings, developing resources and curating interactive dialogues;
    • Assisting with the planning, logistics and implementation of events and monitoring budget expenditures;
    • Representing the Center externally on matters related to reproductive rights through public speaking, and as required, through engagement with the media;
    • Assisting with the supervision of interns, volunteers, pro bono lawyers, and other institutional responsibilities;
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
       

    Qualifications: 

    • Strong commitment to the Center's mission, purpose, and values;
    • Proficiency with activities, theories, and methods in capacity-building field, and experience in building the capacity of non-governmental partners and other stakeholders to influence change;
    • Demonstrated international experience and expertise, including experience living and working at the field level in the Global South;
    • Good judgment and outstanding coordination, analytical and communication skills;
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations;
    • Strong training and facilitation skills in international, multicultural settings;
    • Experience in monitoring and evaluation, including the development of indicators and tools to measure progress and impact;
    • Excellent presentation, research, writing, analytical and creative thinking skills;
    • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills coupled with the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with partners and colleagues;
    • Strong people management skills with the ability to develop others and to impart knowledge and experience in an accessible and clear manner;
    • Familiarity with international and regional human rights law and knowledge of human rights systems and mechanisms preferred;
    • Advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as law, international development, or public policy;
    • Minimum 4-6 years of related experience in developing and implementing capacity-building programs, particularly in the Global South.
