Head of Security at Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd (KTDA)

Overall Purpose

The successful candidate will coordinate the security Risk Management program of the organisation and its subsidiaries by conducting on and off-site security operations and safeguarding of Core Sites and Customer Assets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Directing, developing and implementing strategies, policies, procedures, standards, training and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, tampering, sabotage or loss.
2. Providing support, day-to-day operational management and best practices to the organisation’s Management on security policy and practices.
3. Managing Strategic level services including, but not limited to access control, incident detection and mitigation, communication and awareness, delivery functions, theft and property and deterrence functions
4. Assist in the implementation of Business Continuity Programs across the organization.
5. Conducting annual on-site/offsite security surveys at sites to ensure ongoing compliance to security standards, policies and procedures.
6. Overseeing and ensure that security system designs and specifications meet functional requirements and properly interface with access control, video management, and other impacted IT systems.
7. Provide day to day guidance on investigation tasks by liaising with investigators and internal stakeholders.
8. Developing, implementing and sustaining security-related training sessions for employees regarding fraud loss prevention, cyber security, etc
9. Administering and implementing all audit programs for the management of access control systems.
10. Managing and providing guidance to the site security staff (Security Supervisors and site security teams).
11. Developing and sustaining close partnerships with external stakeholders i.e. Law enforcement, regulatory bodies etc.
12. Assisting in the preparation of risk-based information, statistics and summary   reports for dissemination to stakeholders.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications and competencies:-

• Bachelor’s Degree in Security and Risk Management or a discipline related to Security Management
• Advanced degree in security management is an added advantage
• Certified Fraud examiner (CFE) certification a must.
• A professional background and established credibility in the field of international investigations is essential.
• Specific certifications in IT security or particular technological programs are preferred
• A minimum of 7 years of corporate security experience in an organisation of similar scale with KTDA, with at least five (5) years at senior management level
• Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership in development and implementation of a security management plan, security processes, policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated capacity to analyse complex situations, solve problems and manage change.
• Familiarity with the use of high-tech security systems. Know-how in CCTV control rooms a must.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and reporting writing skills
• Demonstrated ability to perform and/or manage multiple, complex investigations simultaneously in accordance with best international practice;
• Demonstrates expert knowledge of criminal and administrative investigation and investigation management processes.
