    Country Channel Manager

    Job Purpose:

    This is Multi-faceted role, that involves working closely with the JUMO team in Cape Town to provide support and on-the-ground execution in Nairobi.

    The senior candidate is sought who will be able to successfully engage with and manage key stakeholder relationships (MNO in Kenya, industry representatives, and various government regulatory bodies). The successful candidate will have a strong background in the mobile money space, experience in managing high performance teams, and will exhibit extremely strong attention to detail.

    The candidate will be required to provide high-level strategic input into the development of product roadmaps and to ensure that all KPIs around product, customer and portfolio are successfully met or exceeded.

    Key responsibilities:

    • In this role you will work alongside the JUMO Channel and leadership teams in Cape Town in constructing and managing an effective product management roadmap, and will be responsible for all aspects of on-the-ground execution and product implementation.
    • In addition to this, you will be to interact daily with the various Jumo teams responsible for Project Management, Credit Risk, Portfolio Management, Product, Marketing, Customer Insights, Data Science, Legal, Regulatory, Finance and Operations in order to make sure that objectives and deadlines are met on time and with high quality delivery.
    • In terms of performance, you will be evaluated first and foremost by your ability to get things done. Execution of our defined strategy on the ground with MNO partners is an absolutely crucial element of this role. This will be strongly impacted by your ability to build and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
    • Overall, the ideal candidate is a leader, self-starter, team player and is never afraid to roll up his or her sleeves and get in the trenches whenever the need arises.

    Skills and competencies

    Requirements (Qualifications and Experience)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance/Economics/Accounting or similar, Desirable: MBA

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in financial services – mobile money focused ideally
    • Experience in project management 

    • Previous high level and sophisticated relationship management experience across various senior and other levels in an organization
    • Very good understanding and experience of financial products and performance, including credit risk, dynamics of lending, saving and some insurance
    • Experience of negotiating with major counter-party to achieve and facilitate a given strategy
    • Experience leading a team.
    • Prior experience with mobile financial services
    • Ability to work in a fast paced ever changing environment

    • Exceptional communicator, with effective listening skills, intelligent and articulate with strong written and verbal skills.
    • Confident personality with strong presentation ability
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines, multi-task, prioritise and handle a diverse workload
    • Decisive, detail orientated, enthusiastic, problem solver
