    Membership Development Officer

    This will be achieved by providing a package of initiatives, events and activities that demonstrate the benefits people and organisations gain from membership and by ensuring that all staff, volunteers and members are working together to help grow the Society’s membership.

    Duties for the Membership Development Officer Job

    • Achieve annually increasing membership recruitment targets.
    • To work closely with our Regional Representatives to increase regional and international membership recruitment.
    • To be proactive and to develop innovative ways of promoting the Society’s membership to potential members.
    • This will include events, campaigns and appeals.
    • To work with colleagues in the communications department to develop materials (print, electronic) to promote membership of the Society.
    • To analyse membership data and population segmentation information to ensure that recruitment effort is targeted in the right places.
    • To manage the day to day relationships with our regional representatives, ensuring that they are well equipped and motivated to achieve their targets.
    • Be the outward face of the Society at events, activations and through personally recruiting new members.
    • Seek out ways of generating increased support from existing members, whether financial or as recruiters of new members and advocates for the Society
    • Work closely with the Head of Communications to develop an events and activities programme for members, helping to build loyalty and minimise lapse rates.
    • Any other responsibilities that may be prescribed by his/her supervisor from time to time

    Membership Development Officer Job Requirements

    • University degree in Marketing with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
    • An outgoing personality with an interest in the natural world,
    • Energetic, enthusiastic, excellent communication skills, resilience and a ‘can-do’ attitude, with the ability to inspire people
    • Right people skills, attitude and behaviours to inspire others into action and becoming supporters

    Method of Application

    Remuneration for this position will be based on a competitive retainer – commission scheme. This is a one year contract renewable based on performance.
