    Assistant Project Officer

    To oversee economic empowerment of households to increase their income, through training, value chain development, value addition, access to credit, business startup and linkage and access to market. This should serve to increase the life chances of marginalized girls in Meru, Mombasa and Laikipia counties by increasing performance, learning, transition through an integrated approach. In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.

    Assistant Project Officer Job Responsibilities

    Project Planning and design

    • Design Economic empowerment interventions responsive to context
    • Design or review training manuals to aid in delivery of the intervention
    • Develop project Economic Empowerment work plans
    • Develop and maintain relevant database and serve as a hub of data required by stakeholders
    • Incorporate workable empowerment model in new projects.

    Value chain development

    • Assess the current prevailing conditions among SMEs in regards to agribusiness development
    • Develop upstream and downstream linkages for SMEs
    • Support coaching, mentorship and business incubation of SMEs.
    • Design SME business models, SACCO structures, business development plans, training manuals, model enterprises, enterprise development protocols, communication and sponsorship protocols.
    • Oversee Implementation of the economic empowerment designed plans for the County
    • Monitor, evaluate and improve the economic empowerment interventions
    • Develop replication plans to a wider geographical scope
    • Support development of business start-ups to caregivers.
    • Promote roll-out of products to the target communities and ensure set targets are met.

    Project implementation and training

    • Conduct business needs assessment whenever necessary
    • Carry out entrepreneurship trainings of the different target groups; parents, guardians, SMEs
    • Train the parents and guardians of marginalized girls in the implementation of group savings, loans and business development skills
    • Develop, review and evaluate business plans to ensure viability and sustainability of businesses
    • Participate in the development and update of training materials.
    • Coordinate identification & transfer of appropriate technologies and innovations to target groups.
    • Forge partnerships within the project sites for the attainment of project goals.
    • Collaborate with partners in corporate mobilization and service delivery.
    • Engage business mentors and coaches to mentors and support individuals and groups to excel in their established businesses or IGAs
    • Assist development of marketing plans and strategies that promote market opportunities of product outputs and services to ensure steady generation of profits from the business enterprises;
    • Promote and disseminate relevant market information to the identified enterprises; and
    • Perform any other duty as may be directed by the project supervisor.

    Project Monitoring& Evaluation

    • Compile reports (narrative and data) and submit them to the Project Officer (M&E) as per the set deadlines
    • Participate in the design, data collection and analysis of surveys and routine data
    • Ensure proper documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
    • Evaluation of all project interventions conducted.
    • Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees.

    Requirements for the Assistant Project Officer Job

    • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences preferably in Entrepreneurship, Economics, Marketing, Commerce, Agri-economics, Education or agribusiness
    • Diploma in Project Management will be an added advantage.
    • Strong analytical and operational knowledge of Small and Medium business, start-ups and SME business expansions needs;
    • Be an excellent facilitator and can create partnerships within the project area.
    • Understanding of SME business procedures including: business legal and regulatory systems, financing, human resources, IT needs, operations and sales, and marketing, financing options
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, a keen eye for details, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skills.
    • People management skills as well as mentorship experience and capability.
    • A minimum of three years training experience
    • Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
    • Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs

    Project Associate

    The initiative seeks to provide tailored, comprehensive and evidence-informed service package targeting AGYW’s who are at the highest risk of HIV infection, their male sexual partners, families and communities.

    S/he will contribute towards reduction of new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) through girl identification, provision of EBI’s training and safe house packages, tracking of the beneficiaries and providing reports with clear recommendations and lessons learnt.

    In addition, support counties in the actualization of their County Strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.

    Role for the Project Associate Job

    Project implementation and training

    • Implement Evidence Based Interventions targeting Adolescent girls and young women.
    • Assist in office administrative roles, particularly pertaining to records, payments and other responsibilities
      Responsible for overall management of the adolescent safe spaces at the ward level
    • Ensure that the safe spaces are equipped and stocked with DREAMS commodities, it is safe and that is branded accordingly
    • Ensure the EBI’s namely Healthy Choices, SHUGA, SASA, FMP and promotive interventions Condolympics are implemented to reach the targeted AGYW
    • Coordinate the work of mentors and facilitators in the wards and keeping records of their activities and work plans
    • Participate in project, organizational and institutional meetings, take minutes and work harmoniously with other stakeholders in delivery of the project goal
    • Work closely with other partners in identifying vulnerable girls to be support under the DREAMS project
    • Prepare weekly/ monthly ward narrative and data reports as well as host periodic review meetings with mentors and facilitators

    Project Monitoring& Evaluation

    • Implement the data collection tools as provided by the donor and ICL monitoring and evaluation policies
    • Consolidate project qualitative and quantitative data
    • Maintain data records
    • Ensure evaluations of trainings and project activities are conducted, reports written and submitted to the Assistant Project Officer.
    • Assist in preparing activity reports and monthly reports in time for team reflection meetings.

    Project Communication

    • Identify and develop project human success stories
    • Work with project team to develop picture speaks and newsletter for various activities
    • Work with the Communication Officer to develop project communication materials
    • Work with the Communication Officer in project and organization brand enhancement

    Resource Mobilization

    • Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff.
    • Conduct donor research via the Internet to assist the project team in identifying, targeting donors and funding opportunities.

    Project Associate Job Requirements

    • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development or related field.
    • Must be Trained Facilitator or Trainer of Trainers in at least 2 EBIs.
    • A minimum of one year of professional experience implementing EBI’s.
    • Should be Computer Literate and proficient
    • Highly motivated to work in a high-performance environment
    • Willingness to learn, tackle challenges and seek creative solutions in everyday assignments.
    • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal communication skills, both Verbal and written.
    • Must be able to meet urgent deadlines, work with grace under pressure, and function well in a team.

    • Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff including development of LFA’s, theory of change,
    • Design, implement and evaluate projects with a focus on sustainability and impact

    Data Management

    • provide leadership in the development of data collection tools, protocols and standard operating procedures
    • Oversee project evaluations including data collection, analysis and reporting per project M&E Plan.
    • Aggregate, analyse and present program data to project staff, partners and donors
    • Facilitate interpretation of M& E findings for project planning, decision making, course correction and communication of successes.

    Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Manager Job Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Mathematics or Statistics
    • Experience and training in project management will be an added advantage
    • Must have a Master’s Degree in Public Health, a Social Science, or equivalent
    • Training in Research with track proven capacity for research, policy influence and publication
    • Demonstrated capacity to design and mobilize resources for programs using data from research
    • At least 5years’ relevant experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management position.
    • Experience in working in DfID and USAID funded projects. Also, experience in working with EU, SIDA and UN funded projects is desirable
    • Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
    • Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs
    • Competence in qualitative and quantitative study design and implementation as demonstrated in the samples of previous work
    • Experience using data analysis packages
    • Excellent communication, organizing, analytical and report writing skills.

    Roles for the Executive Assistant Job

    • Providing quality secretarial and support services to the Chief Executive Officer.
    • Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of correspondence in the Office by drafting letters and documents, collecting and analyzing information and initiating communication.

    Executive Assistant Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
    • Professional HR qualification and membership to a HR body e.g. IHRM
    • Knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and practices
    • At least 3 years’ experience as a HR generalist in a busy multi-cultural environment preferably an NGO
    • Computer literate with proficiency in email and Microsoft applications. Knowledge of HRM information systems will be an added advantage.

    Competencies

    • A minimum of a degree in communication & marketing, PR or customer relations
    • A Diploma/Certificate in secretarial studies, customer relations will be an added advantage
    • Demonstrated high skill level in MS Office
    • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience preferably in PA, secretarial/admin role
