    Renal Nurse

     

    Job Description

    • Reviews, evaluates and interprets nursing records, vital statistics, and other data affecting health service in order to assess community needs and to plan and implement programs to meet these needs.
    • Assists in planning educational programs for staff and community groups to meet needs of personnel and practitioners.
    • Plans for and participates in field research related to community health nursing.
    • Seeks and encourages input from community members, local leadership, and other community health workers in determining health care needs throughout the community.
    • Sets health care priorities, implements the prevention, health promotion, and other programs identified in the community health nursing plan.
    • Assess community health needs using local knowledge and information, morbidity, mortality, and general health status statistical information.
    • Deliver approved health care services through planned home visits, clinics, and workshops.
    • Counsel parents of infants, preschool, and school children including prevention, normal growth and development, and illness management.
    • Assess the needs of community members and assist the family and other agencies to design and implement a comprehensive nursing plan.
    • Demonstrate caring techniques, and methods of disease prevention and rehabilitation.
    • Assist community members to identify their own health needs and take appropriate action to meet those needs.
    • Control communicable disease in all age groups by teaching disease prevention methods, conducting immunizations, organizing clinics and follow-up, and counselling on sexually transmitted diseases and other reportable communicable diseases.
    • Promote the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment in schools and the community at large.
    • Encourage healthy lifestyles by assisting other staff with health promotion activities.
    • Dedicate time and effort in coming up with innovative solutions to cut across the health issues facing the communities we work with to ensure that the community is involved in all aspects of the health process
