    Regional Awards (Grants) Management Officer

    Job description

     

    Role Purpose:

    The purpose of this post is support the Head of Award Management in the planning, securing and managing of both development and humanitarian grants across East and Southern Africa. The position plays a lead role in award information management and shares and coordinates information across departments.

    Under the direction of the Head of Award Management, the Regional Awards Management Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the SCI programme adheres to all its award management obligations internally within Save the Children and externally with donors. They will also provide wider systems support as needed, including support to project management, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership management as they relate to SCI systems. Provide remote support to the award managers in the region in planning securing and managing awards with dedicated support on high risk awards, providing analysis, compliance, capacity building and monitoring of all phases of awards.

    Contract Duration: 2 years

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • Undergraduate degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Law, Business Administration or Finance or a relevant field
    • 3 years' experience in donor funded projects with International NGO's particularly those addressing human/children's rights and those applying partnership approaches.
    • Significant experience (minimum 3 years) of developing proposals (narrative and financial), negotiating agreements and managing compliance of major institutional donors in the development sector (e.g. USAID, EC, ECHO, UNICEF, DFAT, etc.) including in-depth knowledge of grant documents & compliance issues.
    • Demonstrable experience in grant/contract management and financial management
    • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
    • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
    • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
    • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
