Oxfam in Kenya’s programme on strengthening humanitarian systems aims to reduce chronic vulnerability of marginalised women and men and enable them to progress towards self-sufficiency in an enabling environment and with Kenyan Government delivering on social protection. This will be through a system strengthening approach, piloting innovative and gender sensitive projects in WASH and Social protection with the aim for the pilots to be taken over by the Government and implemented at scale. Oxfam works through strategic partners and in collaboration with county and national actors is enhancing their capacity to be better prepared for slow and rapid onset crises, and timely response while ensuring a sound DRM policy and implementation framework are in place. Oxfam thrives to enhance stakeholder coordination and to equip communities with skills to enable them the cope with stress and shocks and raise their voice for better essential service delivery.
An opportunity has now risen to join the team that will have a niche role in WASH and Social protection/ Cash programming in the country and during the strategy period (2015-2020) transfer the skills and technical know-how of the same to the local and national institutions.
If you are the person we are looking for, you will report to the Director-Humanitarian Systems Strengthening, lead in the design of Social Protection/Resilience programme and implementation – piloting innovative programme approaches, building partnerships, coalitions and networks and, supporting partners to develop organisational capacity building to deliver high quality Social Protection/Resilience programme. You will also establish and maintain linkages with other thematic areas and link with Oxfam campaigns, policy influencing and advocacy teams and, be to fundraiser for the programme and to generate and manage knowledge resources through linkages with knowledge hubs and other institutions.
