    Community Liaison Officer

    Main purpose of job:

    To work closely with Post Management for the well-being of all staff at Post, primarily as a provider of support and an advocate for UK-based staff and families on family and community issues.

    Roles and responsibilities:

    • Welfare at Post – including welcoming new UK based staff to ensure as smooth an integration as possible into the life of the BHC community; following up to check that the settling in process is working; being a source of referral and support and to help arrange team building and social events for all British High Commission staff;
    • Advocate for UK based staff and dependants in addressing issues of importance with Post management, including on the Post Housing Committee, the People Committee and the Crisis Management Committee as well as acting as the chief link between Post and Diplomatic Service Families Association (DSFA) in London;
    • Communicate effectively on community and social matters within the Post including through the Post Report, Welcome Pack, Kikwetu website, Facebook and the weekly High Commission bulletin;
    • Information Management of the Post Welcome Pack, CLO Homepage, Post Report and Factsheet, Staff and partner list;
    • Completion of returns including Spouse and Partner Annual Employment Report and the twice yearly Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) survey.

    Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

    Staff welfare expenditure element from senior management entertainment budgets for social/community events

    Essential qualifications, skills and experience
    • Excellent written and spoken English
    • Good IT skills, including a good working knowledge of social media;
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Experience of being posted overseas
    Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
    • Experience in Customer Service
