Public Infomation Assistant at United Nations Visitors Service

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Visitors Service, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Conduct tours of the United Nations Office at Nairobi in English and French (and possibly Spanish) language.
• Answer questions, precisely and diplomatically, concerning political, economic, and social matters connected with the work of the United Nations.
• Conduct special tours and briefings for new UN recruits, delegates, military personnel, visiting affiliates such as NGOs and corporate executives, VIP guests, and students from elementary to graduate level.

REQUIREMENTS

• Profound knowledge of the history, structure and work of the United Nations.
• High level of customer orientation and patience.
• Good presentation skills and outgoing personality.
• Fluency in English and French is a must. Fluency in Spanish, and the ability to conduct tours in Spanish language, is considered an added advantage.
• Flexibility to adapt working hours according to demand.
