    Logistics Team Leader

    Job Description

    Job Purpose

    • Manages and drives performance of a team of Import Operations Specialists
    • Processes, handles, distributes all required documents in the receiving area
    • Ensures customer requirements are met and takes corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements
    • Ensures documents are completed and updated in a timely and efficient manner and according to regulations and internal procedures
    • Acts as subject matter expert for AFR/OFR Operations questions
    • Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
    • Extensive knowledge of OFR Import and Export Operations
    • Fit for people management role (communication, motivation and interpersonal skills) Demonstrates strong communication capabilities
    • Easily capable of making well informed decisions

    Main Accountabilities

    • Organizes, splits and plans day-to-day work of Import Operations Specialists
    • Supervises Transactional Operations in the receiving area (delivery arrangement, planning and follow-up of shipment in the receiving area)
    • Arranges delivery
    • Ensures handling of required Import documents according to regulations and internal procedures
    • Follows-up shipment status in the Import area, identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents
    • Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution
    • Creates, builds and maintains excellent relationships with key suppliers
    • Continuously monitors supplier performance and develops improvement plan when required
    • Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department

    REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB

    Functional Experience

    • Long-term experience and proven track record in the customs segment
    • Fit for people management role
    • Proficient decision making skills
    • High degree of written, verbal and organizational skills

    Geographical Experience

    • Knowledge of the industry and stakeholders - shipping lines, CFS, transporters,KRA,KEBS,KPA

    Education / Qualification / Certification Requirements

    • Relevant training in clearing, freight forwarding or logistics management
    • Deep knowledge of OFR imports and exports operations
    • Strong analytical skills and good communication skills
    • Commercial experience/capabilities

    Language Requirements

    • Excellent English

    Functional Competencies

    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Strong problem-solving mentality
    • Extensive knowledge of OFR Import Operations
    • Good administration skills
    • Results driven and attention
