    Director of Health

     

    The Opportunity

    The role provides strategic and technical direction for the development and implementation of the Living Goods Kenya RMNCH (Reproductive New Born Maternal Child Health) program. She/he shapes the overall strategic direction and operational model for LG Kenya with keen focus on impact optimization. The role leads the following functions and their teams: Training, M&E, Quality assurance and research. The role serves as a key technical advisor on all health-related matters to the country director, senior leadership and serves as the health focal point to external partners including the Government.

    Ensure program excellence. 

    • You are our top technical expert. Drive strategy for deepening the health impact of the Living Goods model, staying on top of best practices, new research and innovations to integrate into our model.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation: Oversee the development and implementation of the LG M&E strategic plan and drive a culture of data use for decision making at all levels of the organization.
    • Research: Oversee the development and implementation of the LG Research strategic plan. Identify research opportunities and provide technical oversight to the conduct of research activities by internal and external teams.
    • Health capability building: Provide strategic direction to ensure capability of the right people is built through training or other means; Oversee development of all key training, job aids, and other diagnostic tools, ensuring they comply with Ministry of Health, and relevant global health standards and best practice.
    • Contribute to the development of LG policies, guidelines and strategic plans.

    Leadership & Team Management

    • Manage, supervise and build a high performing team to ensure effective delivery of the LG strategic plan.
    • Coach and mentor managers to build both technical and management capacity.
    • Build resources for the future, inspire and motivate others to be the best they can be.
    • As a member of the Country senior management team, communicate a vision, build common understanding, align resources to accomplish key objectives, drive the ‘living the values” and work across Living Goods to build collaborative relationships.

    Project Management

    • Provide project management oversight to selected projects and initiatives.
    • Provide technical advice to LG team members in the design and implementation of projects.
    • Initiate and lead the design and implementation of new and/or innovative approaches and service delivery models.

    Ensure Quality.  

    • You will ensure that data we glean is robust and reliable.  You will also help develop indicators to measure community health worker performance and client satisfaction. Excellent communication and writing skills, with a keen ability to synthesize and present complex data in a simple, compelling, meaningful way (ability to produce beautiful and top-notch data visualization is a plus).

    Influence externally.

    • Good network & understanding of stakeholders; including with other donors, policy-makers and other entities to advocate for and influence adoption of community health best practices and policies. Strong relationships with Ministry of Health.

    Develop new programs.

    • Lead all aspects of program design in business development, assess partnership and funding opportunities and provide technical direction on bid/no-bid decisions.

    Your background

    Technical credentials.

    • Registered Medical Doctor 10+ years of relevant experience in Public health programs with sound understanding of the MOH Kenya (Policies, curricula etc.)
    • Strong experience in in Research Design/M&E and implementation of maternal and child health programs.
    • Prior experience working with large funding organizations such as GAVI, USAID, DFID and The Gates Foundation is desired.
    • Deep knowledge and experience in Design, impact measurement and evaluation,
    • Possess strong analytical, evaluation design, and methodological skills, and utilizes “right-fit” methods for a broad range of quantitative and qualitative approaches to communicate a rigorous, yet compelling story about org’s impact
