  • The Kenya leather Development Council was gazette as a State Corporation in the then Ministry of Livestock Development vide an Executive Order through a legal notice No. 114 of the Kenya gazette supplement No. 113 of 9th September 2011, under the State Corporations Act (Cap 446) of the laws of Kenya to provide direction, harmony and coordination to the leather sub-sector in the country.
    KLDC was formed on a Private-Public Partnership to represent the interests of the leather sector. The representation is drawn from Kenya Livestock Marketing Council, Slaughter Houses Association, Hides, Skins traders, tanners, footwear manufacturers, informal leather manufacturers, academia long standing in the sub-sector and the environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Driving a motor vehicle as authorized.
    • Carrying out checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure and other related routine checks.
    • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems.
    • Maintaining work tickets for vehicles assigned.
    • Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road.
    • Ensuring safety of the passengers and/or goods therein.
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

    Qualifications

    • Have minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ or its equivalent.
    • Have a valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle.
    • Have passed Occupational Trade Test I/II/III for Drivers.
    • Have a Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
    • Have attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
    • Must have Attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution.
    • Have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct;
    • Proficiency in computer applications is an added advantage.
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
    • Show merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Corporate Communication Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Participating in the production of appropriate communication and dissemination strategies.
    • Establishing and maintaining regular contact with media practitioners with a view to enhancing goodwill and positive coverage for the council.
    • Planning and executing the Council’s participation in key Corporate events.
    • Recording and developing photographic images of the Council’s activities.
    • Developing web content and updating the Website.
    • Preparing and producing reports and other publications.
    • Undertaking media assignments including reserving advertising space with appropriate media outlets and organizing for press conferences.
    • Developing corporate brand identity manual and ensuring conformity to it.
    • Identifying and recommending branding and publicity opportunities for the Council.

    Qualifications

    • Have a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in the Public Service or in the Private Sector.
    • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following:- Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations or other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Be proficient in computer applications, including knowledge in desktop publishing.
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
    • Show merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

    Office Administrative Assistant

    Responsibilities

    • Typing from drafts, manuscripts or recording dictation.
    • Management of e-office equipment.
    • Management of office protocol and office petty cash.
    • Handling office communication (calls, letters and appointments).
    • Ensuring security of office records, documents (including classified material) and equipments.
    • Undertaking any other secretarial duties that may be assigned.
    • An officer at this position may be required to work for more than one officer.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Secretarial Studies or Bachelor of Business and Office Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
    • A Certificate in Computer Applications (Windows, Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, MsPowerPoint, Ms-Access and Internet) from a recognized institution.
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
