    HR Specialist

    Role Responsibility

Reporting to the London based International HR Business Partner, you will provide operational day to day HR support to our East Africa teams and if required, more widely across our wider Africa operations. This is a very busy and varied role, supporting an inspiring and demanding multi-national work force where you will work across a full range of HR related activity across the employee life-cycle.  It is a standalone role where you will be expected to work independently as part of a wider, remote-based team.

You will be dealing with local reward and benefits matters, helping to deliver corporate and local reward and benefits strategy as well as advising on local compliance considerations.  In this role you may be playing a part in staff training development initiatives and helping us recruit and develop fantastic and diverse talent for our East Africa operations.

You will be working as part of a wider international HR team based in the UK and in other territories, who together have a global remit – so there will be opportunities to support global and pan-regional projects.

    Are you the right candidate?

Educated to a degree level qualification in HR or a related area, you will bring a solid generalist HR background to this role.  Experienced in handling a wide variety of people-related issues both formally and informally, you will be an excellent relationship builder with experience of supporting local management teams.  You will have a working knowledge of the Kenyan Industrial Relations Act as well as experience in delivering employee engagement activity and implementing change.   Experience of managing disciplinaries, working in a union-led environment and a track record in delivering positive change is essential.

A team player with experience in a multi-national work place would be desirable but not essential as would experience of or an interest in the media industry.  Fluency in English is necessary, language skills in at least one other East African language would be advantageous.
