Africa Educational Trust is a registered INGO that has been supporting education programmes in the most marginalized areas in Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda and Kenya. In Kenya, AET works closely with a pastoral community of predominantly Maa speakers in Laikipia North. Activities in the region involve training of teachers who are also supported through coaching, support with learning/teaching materials, infrastructural support, and various initiatives at community level promoting the ownership of education and schools within the region. These activities are carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Education who also monitor implementation and quality. The programmes focus on promoting access to quality education for all with the aim of improving the learning outcomes of children within Laikipia North. It is envisioned that if children learn to read for learning this shall be achieved. Thus, AET is seeking to employ an experienced coach to take on coaching and mentoring of teachers within schools in Laikipia North. The suitable candidate should be someone who is committed to advancing the learning experience of children within Laikipia North.
Job Purpose Africa Educational Trust is running a learning centre in Laikipia North for girls who have left school after completing their primary schooling but are now ambitious to complete their Secondary Education and sit the National School Leaving Examination (KCSE). The centre is in Kimanjo Town and the girls are now in their third year and are expected to take their KCSE in November 2020. Thus, AET is seeking to employ a full time teacher who is qualified to teach a Math/Chemistry combination. The suitable candidate should be someone who is committed to advancing education among girls in this local community.
