    Country Change Partner and Transformation Lead

    Dimensions of Role: The Country Change Partner & Transformation Lead (hereafter referred as CCPTL) role requires working collaboratively with all staff, stakeholders and organisational structures in order to lead Plan International Kenya through both a time sensitive remediation change process and through an organizational wide transformation in pursuance of the 100 Million Reasons Global Strategy.

    This role will utilize change management principles, processes, and tools to focus on driving transformation that will enable Plan Kenya to achieve Plan International’s Purpose and Global Strategy. The role is expected to take a lead in informing and/or designing the change strategy, assessing stakeholder impacts and organizational readiness, recommending and/or implementing appropriate communication, training, and behavioural change solutions, and measuring effectiveness to enhance organization, group, and individual performance.

    The CCPTL will be a member of the Country Management Team (CMT) and will in principle

    • Work with our leadership teams to strengthen how we operate, including modernising our business processes systems and the way we work;
    • Work with various teams leads to ensure we have a well-designed Country Office strategy and product(s) that are fully integrated into a transformation implementation plan and
    • Work with various leadership teams within the Country Office and at the Regional Office and ensure delivery of the intended outcomes emanating from both, a time sensitive remediation plan and a Transformation Strategy on time and on budget whilst ensuring that our people are engaged in the new ways of working

    The role will enable faster employee adaption of new ways of working by focusing on engaging people with change and helping to embed and grow a values and performance driven culture.

    Anticipated and specific deliverables from the transformation process include:

    • Implementation of a time-sensitive and a risk managed remediation process that informs a re-engineered Organisational operating model and Archetype;
    • Re-engineered “end to end” internal business processes and portfolio management to enhance organisational performance across key functional areas, including but not limited to Business Operations, Program Unit, Human Resources and Business Development;
    • Contribution to a Country Aspiration and Goal Setting development process, including identification of skills requirement across functional areas;
    • Supporting documentation e.g. Risk Profile, Results Framework, Milestone Plan, Change Assessment and Business Case, as need arises.

    Typical Responsibilities – Key End Results of Position:

    • Determine and drive the pace needed to implement the Global Strategy through a well-structured remediation and transformation process;
    • Leading a change process that ensures staff own the change process while balancing the need for time-sensitive remediation processes;
    • Provide overall guidance to the transformation process to ensure timely implementation, optimised cost and expected quality;
    • Ensure buy-in and support for both a time sensitive remediation change process and for the wider transformation process across all stakeholders, including the Country office and Regional Office leadership team; whilst allowing for deep reflections by leadership, of lessons learnt and sharing of how to do things better;
    • Coordinate the multi-level change required for transformation to achieve the aspirations of RESA and the Global Strategy;
    • Catalyse implementation of the new strategy across Plan International Kenya by utilising the transformation framework;
    • Provide concise reporting to enable visibility of the transformation process and a consistent and coherent message around the status, progress and significant changes.

    Dealing with Problems:

    • Stakeholders have differing expectations and needs relating to the overall transformation process that will require:
    • Clear articulation of purpose and expected outcomes at all times and with appreciation for time sensitive delivery;
    • Understanding and managing conflicting expectations; negotiating and accommodating a variety of required outcomes within procedures, tools and guidance; influencing and persuading around purpose and expected outcomes;
    • Developing communication routines covering all stakeholders within Plan Kenya and externally.

    Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

    Knowledge and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in OD, HR, Finance, Project/Program Management and related. A Master’s Degree is preferred
    • At least 10 years in relevant experience in the following areas:
    • Designing and leading on organisational development and change processes;
    • Supporting the delivery of major projects with regards to business processes and systems within large and complex organisations;
    • Exceptional inter-personal skills- engaging as well as asserting, influencing, negotiation and active listening;
    • Business acumen with at least one of the following core business disciplines, OD, Strategic HR, Finance, Project/Program Management and/or Lean and Six Sigma.

    Physical Environment and Demands:

    The post will be based in a typical work environment and will work out of the Kenya Country Office in Nairobi, and will require some level of travel (approximately 30% of working time)

    Type of Role: 1 year Fixed term contract with the possibility of renewal
