Candidate Specifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field from a recognized institution.
- At least 3 years relevant experience in a similar position, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Conversant with ISO 14001: 2015 and ISO 45001: 2018.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement site specific EHS programs, trainings, policies and practices.
- Ability to research, investigate alternative solutions and recommend needed change
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Fluency in oral and written English and Kiswahili languages.
Key Performance Areas:
- Perform EHS site inspections to ensure compliance with the safety processes and policies as guided by EHS plans.
- Enforce compliance to Health, Safety & environment policies, procedures, rules and regulations to all employees and concerned parties.
- Participate in the development of health & safety guidelines, communications, safe systems of work and standard operating procedures.
- Regularly review, update and communicate Health, Safety & environment policies, procedures, rules and regulations to all employees and concerned parties.
- Ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations in areas pertaining to health, safety, environment, statutory trainings, audits, wastes disposal, firefighting appliances inspections and reporting.
- Ensure risk assessments are done as per the company plans.
- Ensure that all accidents/incidents are documented, investigated and recommended corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
- Carry out induction trainings to all new employees and visitors on EHS as required.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, risk assessments SOPs are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Actively participate in enhancing compliance to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards requirements.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to management.
- Provide relevant information for monthly EHS reports.
- Accountable for supervision, administration and record keeping on area specific EHS audits, inspections, reports, certifications, permits to works, etc.
- Maintain record of all EHS compliance permits, licenses and certifications.
- Coordinates with other departments the application of a ‘Permit to Work System’ for all activities requiring permits.
- Supervise the EHS improvement activities implementation.
