Study Coordinator, Mental Health Interventions for Pregnant Adolescents, Inspire Project, Department of Psychiatry at University of Nairobi

Background The US Fogart International Centre and National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) has awarded an K43 grant entitled implementing mental health interventions for pregnant adolescents in primary care context to the University of Nairobi. The grant award is for the period September 2018 up to April 2023.

The position The position of Study Coordinator is located in Nairobi and is tenable on one year contract, renewable on mutual agreement.

Job description

• Oversee firld visits for data collection and follow ups
• Conducting interviews and follow up assessments
• Sourcing participants in liaison with other health workers
• Helping in preparing the delivery of various interventions 
• Regular communication with project team
• Oversee research activities 
• Writing of progress reports

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field from a recognized institution
• At least two years experience of work in community mental health and delivering cum supervising psychotherapists in primary health care facilities of Nairobi 
• Experience in managing donor funded health professional eduication/training in higher institutions will be desirable.
• Demonstrate ability to have productive interactions with stakeholders, partners and students involved in mental health and have some exposure to working on mental health projects
• A record os success in operating in a team environment to achieve organizational goals
• Demonstrate effeciveness in managing multiple priorities and programmes
• Exposure to evidence-based psychotherapies like IPT
• Basic research skills in data collection, analysis, etc.
