    Cardiothoracic Center Equipment Planner

    We are seeking a Cardiothoracic Center Equipment Planner for an exciting new project at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya. As we support Tenwek Hospital to build and expand its medical facility, we need someone to provide high-level expertise in the planning, coordination, purchasing, and installation of equipment and furnishings for the new Cardiothoracic Center (CTC). In this role, you will work closely with the Project Engineer and Project Analyst to budget and oversee the procurement of all equipment and furnishings for this transformational endeavor.     In the role of Cardiothoracic Center Equipment Planner, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
    • Develop the scope and budget for all equipment to be purchased by Samaritan’s Purse necessary for the opening of the Cardiothoracic Center (CTC) at Tenwek Hospital, through partnership with the Project Engineer, Project Analyst, Biomedical Team, Clinical Advisors, stakeholders at Tenwek Hospital, and external stakeholders
    • Facilitate the procurement process for each piece of Samaritan’s Purse-funded equipment at the CTC from start to finish, in collaboration with the Procurement Operations and Support Teams (POST) and Tenwek stakeholders
    • Liaise with Samaritan’s Purse management in Kenya and at IHQ, Biomed Engineering Team, Donor Ministries Department, Finance Department, Legal Team, and external stakeholders as appropriate
    • Serve as primary contact for vendors and their representatives seeking CTC site access, construction drawings, and technical information to plan for equipment delivery and installation
    • Coordinate with the CTC Project Engineer and General Contractor to implement appropriate strategies to organize and preserve equipment onsite
    • All other duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Experience:

    •  Four-year college or university program certificate in Cardiac Nursing, Medical Sales, Procurement, Logistics, Healthcare Management, or relevant field, plus three to five years related experience and/or training with emphasis in equipment planning of inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular healthcare facilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with Mission Hospitals preferred.
    • General knowledge of international procurement and logistics processes and field accounting functions with regard to income, expenses, and maintenance of accurate records. 
    • Thorough knowledge of the medical and non-medical equipment needs of large hospitals and have extensive knowledge of the needs of end users in cardiothoracic hospitals in particular.
    • Thorough knowledge of the needs of those involved in cardiac surgery, profusion, sterilization, anesthesia, intensive care nursing, critical care nursing, and all related support areas—including clinical outpatient, labs, radiology, pharmacy, endoscopy, kitchens, laundry, etc.
    • Strong organizational skills and capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines with keen attention to detail.
    • Proficiency with project accounting and budget management. Ability to understand, analyze, maintain, and report on financial budgets.
    • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.
