    Housing Opportunities and Mission Engagement (HOME) Comms Manager

    The Housing Opportunities and Mission Engagement (HOME) Communications Manager will play an important role in advancing Habitat’s programs and services, identifying and acting on opportunities to integrate equity and inclusion-related communication efforts across the Habitat network, both internally and externally. They will serve as a convener and project manager, leading efforts across Habitat teams to coordinate and drive consistent use of terminology and equitable storytelling strategies and best practices and develop content highlighting team successes and learning opportunities internally to HFHI staff and externally to various audiences.

    Initiatives and programs to highlight include Building the Beloved Community, Courageous Community Conversations, gender equity work, and people-centered design, among others, as well as region/country-specific focus areas such as indigenous rights and the nuanced approaches to diversity and faith in each of the 70+ countries in which Habitat operates.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Embedding with HOME team to develop a deep understanding of Habitat’s strategic approach globally (25%).
    • Collaborating closely with Global Communications colleagues, the HOME team, and others on messaging and content plans that clearly communicate Habitat’s work, history, culture and equity efforts to various internal and external key audiences, writing clearly and compellingly for both technical and more general audiences (25%).
    • Collaborating with Global Communications colleagues around the world to develop global communications strategies, plans, tools and assets for the ongoing implementation of the organization’s HOME strategy and initiatives (25%).
    • Helping prepare Habitat leadership, fundraisers, advocates, and other global stakeholders with messaging and communications tools for specific opportunities, technical and general events and other key moments (10%).
    • Convening and upskilling the Habitat network to drive consistency of equitable storytelling strategies (10%).
    • Managing the development and updating of materials, including quarterly and year-end reports, and dashboards, learning paths and resources on employee- and network-facing platforms, in partnership with Knowledge Management and HOME teams (5%).
    • Performing other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Minimum:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
    • 5-7 years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing spanning global geographies.
    • Proven global experience in equitable and inclusive communications.
    • Lived or professional experience working on a global team and/or within an INGO or company with multicultural, global audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural competencies and organizational and project management skills that demonstrate an ability to successfully collaborate with diverse global audiences and stakeholders.
    • Excellent writing, speaking, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and demonstrate a flexible, conversational tone.
    • Passionate about the opportunity to create communications approaches that help weave an organization’s strategies into its work and culture.
    • High level of attention to detail and accuracy and highly organized, with strong time management skills.
    • Respect for a diversity of opinions and styles.
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word and PowerPoint, as well as common layout and design software associated with print and digital communication.
    • Ability to write, edit, evaluate and curate compelling content through to completion while meeting brand, marketing and messaging needs.
