    Librarian

    Role Summary.

    Facilitate orderly students and Teachers’ access to books and other learning materials kept at the Library to support learning programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Be in a position to develop programs to meet the needs, abilities and interests of learners using a range of instructional techniques and media.
    • Manage the library on a day to day basis
    • Provide schedules, reviewed occasionally, for library use, including evening or holiday sessions when considered necessary
    • Develop plans and strategies for the library’s growth and improved service.
    • ·    Maintain orderliness and control at all times the library is in use.
    • Reviewing procedures as required in consideration of the security of the library resources.
    • Carry out annual stock take
    • Gather and disseminate to Departmental Heads, publisher’s information useful to decide future purchases and arrange displays.
    • Visit local bookshops and exhibitions to assess purchase of new or second-hand books.
    • Provide guidelines to newly admitted students on the proper appreciation of library resources.  
    • Develop computerized processes for library management.  
    • Attend workshops when available in Library Science, as agreed with the Head Teacher
    • Assisting library users in utilizing the library’s E-books, Audio books and Audio-Visuals
    • Ensuring that library books are in proper condition and are replaced in case of loss or damage.
    • Working with publishers and vendors to ensure the library has an up to date catalogue of books.
    • Help prepare the library’s budget and manage payments of fines for damages or loss

    The requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in (Library and Information Science/Library Science/Records Management).
    • A minimum of 2-year experience in a busy library.
    • Experience in a school setup will be an added advantage.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Google-suite platforms
    • Must have the knowledge to work with databases and Integrated Library Systems.
