    Professor/Associate Professor – School of Computing Sciences

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Riara University is seeking a dynamic and experienced Faculty in the rank of either Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor to join the School of Computing Sciences. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering and advancing high-quality teaching, research, and scholarship while contributing to the strategic growth and academic excellence of the school. Under the supervision of the Dean, the Faculty Staff will support the implementation of academic programs, foster collaborations, and drive innovation in teaching and learning methodologies. We seek an individual who can establish and strengthen partnerships within and outside the University to enhance the school’s impact and reputation

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    Teaching & Learning

    • Provide leadership in designing and delivering industry-relevant course materials.
    • Supervise teaching and assessment of assigned programs/units.
    • Engage in innovative curriculum delivery methods, including blended learning, online learning, and face-to-face instruction.
    • Maintain a fair and equitable teaching load, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    • Conduct learner centered sessions, monitor student progress, and provide academic mentorship.
    • Identify, develop, and implement effective marketing strategies for school programs.
    • Monitor and respond to curriculum development initiatives at international, regional, and local levels.

    Curriculum Development & Academic Leadership

    • Design, development, and review of new and existing academic programs.
    • Collaborate with faculty and industry stakeholders to ensure curriculum relevance and compliance with accreditation requirements.
    • Ensure programs align with emerging trends and interdisciplinary approaches in computing sciences.

    Research & Scholarship

    • Conduct and publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings.
    • Develop partnerships with universities and stakeholders to organize and participate in scholarly conferences.
    • Mentor faculty and students in research development and capacitybuilding initiatives.
    • Identify research and scholarship funding opportunities and develop competitive proposals.
    • Foster a culture of research excellence within the school and establish meaningful collaborations.

    Community Engagement & Service

    • Provide mentorship and supervision to students undertaking internships and community service.
    • Facilitate student participation in workshops, seminars, and competitions.
    • Organize community service initiatives that enhance student learning and professional development.
    • Collaborate with faculty and external partners to strengthen the university’s outreach and engagement efforts.

    Mentorship & Academic Advising

    • Providing academic and career guidance to students.
    • Serving as a mentor to junior faculty and researchers.
    • Supporting student projects, research initiatives, and professional development.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    • PhD in Computing Sciences, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, or a related discipline.
    • Must meet the qualifications for appointment as a faculty staff in any of the above indicated ranks as per the Harmonized Criteria and Guidelines for Appointment and Promotion of Academic Staff in Universities in Kenya (available on the Commission for UniversityEducation website).
    • Demonstrated ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels using diverse student-centered learning methodologies.
    • A strong research profile with publications in reputable peerreviewed journals.
    • Experience in supervising at least two (2) postgraduate students in a related area of specialization.
    • Proven ability to establish and manage industry partnerships and linkages.
    • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Experience in planning and coordinating academic events, including public lectures, workshops, and conferences.
    • A proactive and innovative team player with excellent problemsolving skills.
