    School-Based Mental Health Counsellor

    Modeling and Leadership

    • Work in conjunction with the Student Life Network, Learning Support Team, and
    • Guidance Teams to consult and coordinate interventions.

    • Provide leadership that ensures all activities of the Counselling Department are congruent with the school's vision and mission.
    • Supervision
    • Consistently seek to maintain positive morale among the Counselling Team.
    • Assist the counselling team in evaluating and maintaining mental and emotional health for students.
    • Work cooperatively with the Learning Support, to develop, plan and offer resources for growth and improvement.
    • Develop an effective K-12 counselling program for students.
    • Work with the Counseling Team and Department by attending Team meetings and weekly supervision meetings.

    Counsellor Duties

    • Develop a Preventive Counselling Program in the counselor-assigned area of focus that focuses on the healthy management of life’s issues through periodic extension activities for students, staff, and parents. Current programs include supporting the child safety program and transition programs.

    Counselling

    • Provide school-based counseling for students whose social/academic performance is affected by emotional and behavioral issues.
    • Provide time-limited and research-based interventions for students needing school-based counseling intervention.
    • Write 504 accommodations and Behavioral Intervention Plans based on best practices in the United States.
    • Assist the principals, learning support teachers, and classroom teachers in implementing the 504 accommodation plans for emotional/behavioral issues.
    • Serve as consultant for teachers who have students who are displaying social/emotional/behavioral issues in the classroom.
    • Serve as a member of the Response To Intervention Team and Student Life

    Support Team

    • Assist the Child Safety Team in conducting reviews, consulting with administration, and implementing support interventions for students.
    • Coordinate therapeutic and/or educational groups to address specific issues preventatively.
    • Develop and coordinate transition care for new and departing students within the counselor’s assigned school.
    • Recommend students for long-term counselling services at a professional counselling center as necessary and act as a liaison between the school and the outside referral agency.
    • Maintain documentation of student cases and crises as required by the school protocol.
    • Crisis Intervention
    • Assist the school and counselling department in crisis intervention.
    • Assist in the development of programs and plans for effective crisis intervention.
    • Assist in the management, prevention, and assessment of child safety issues as requested by the child safety team.
    • Be on call to respond to crises as needed.

    Communication & Collaboration

    • Maintain workable relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
    • Make an effort to know the students personally and participate in student events and activities.
    • Provide written reports of student progress as requested, scheduled, and/or needed
    • Maintain an attitude of openness and desire for communication.
    • Attend and participate in school staff meetings.
    • Serve on committees (Response to Intervention Team, Student Support Team, and Child Safety Team) to support the overall school programs.
    • Collaborate with the Student Life Network and Administration in planning the support program for all students.
    • Professional Development
    • Annually submit a written list of professional goals to the Professional Development Coordinator, Head of Department, and Principal.
    • Participate in scheduled in-service, curriculum planning, and professional development activities.
    • May seek performance feedback from colleagues, parents, and students as part of his/her self-evaluation procedure.
    • Remain abreast of current developments in Christian educational and counselling theory through active collaboration with other professionals and through reading of professional journals

    • Hold a counselling certificate from an authorized governmental agency from the individual’s
    • home country and an ability to pursue certification as a counselor in Kenya.

    Director of Spiritual Life

    Duties andAccountabilities

    Modeling and Leadership:

    Duties:

    • Building on the work already being done to create and implement a compelling vision for Christian spiritual formation in Rosslyn students and staff.
    • Empowering and supervising the members of the Spiritual Life Team.
    • Overseeing and participating in the preK-12 Chapel, Discipleship, and Spiritual Emphasis Week programs (in conjunction with other members of the Spiritual Life Team.)
    • Supporting holistic growth in students through strong collaboration between the chaplains and the other members of the student support team (Counseling, Learning Support, EAL, etc.), as well as teachers and volunteers.
    • Serving on the school’s senior leadership teams (Executive Team and Leadership Team.)
    • This includes being a part of the school’s grievance process chain, financial aid decision committee, approving new positions at the school, etc. There will be at least one weekly meeting to attend.
    • In cooperation with the Superintendent, develop position papers explaining the school’s position on social, cultural, or controversial trends that explain how the school’s policies and practices are aligned with our Owner Agency theological standards, our Core Tenets, and an orthodox interpretation of scripture.
    • Facilitating pastoral care and support to members of the community by, 1) serving as part of the Member Care Team 2) mobilizing community prayer and practical support and 3) overseeing and collaborating with our Transition Care programming (New Staff Orientation, New Faculty Formation, Departing Staff Retreat)
    • Coordinating our weekly Staff Devotions and other worship services throughout the school year (Staff Dedication Service, Parent Prayer Breakfast, etc.)
    • Ensuring ongoing collaboration with our Service Learning program as well as with non-school partners in Christian ministry (e.g., BlueSky, local churches, mission agencies, etc.).
    • Coordinating with the CRE (Christian Religious Education) Department to ensure that the theology and spiritual formation that is being taught and encouraged aligns with our Core
    • Christian Beliefs and is being appropriately integrated into chapels, discipleship programs, etc., and vice versa.
    • Facilitating the work of Rosslyn’s Diversity Advisory Team.
    • Possibly teaching at least one CRE course per semester.
    • All other duties as assigned; will take on additional responsibilities within reason.

    Curriculum and Instructional Coaching Specialist

    Curriculum Specialist Duties

    • Facilitate the development of standards-based curriculum and conversations across all grade levels and subjects) including but not limited to developing/refining K-12 scope and sequences, supporting horizontal and vertical alignment, and ensuring coherenceacross grade levels.
    • Evaluate and improve units of instruction to meet curricular goals and academic standards.
    • Lead school-wide assessments and facilitate/monitor progress monitoring programs (i.e. MAP, DIBELS, Exact Path, etc.). This includes coordinating, scheduling, and providing teacher training and ongoing support.
    • Lead/monitor teams moving through phased curriculum review cycles (Research & Auditing, Implementing, Monitoring, Evaluation & Adjusting curriculum) including selecting and reviewing texts/materials for specific subjects.
    • Facilitate Subject Area Leader (SAL) meetings and ongoing conversations, supporting leaders with ongoing direction of subject area curriculum development.
    • Administer/monitor curriculum mapping software (Curriculum Trak, etc), ensuring curricular alignment and clarity, and reporting regularly on progress and areas for improvement.
    • Lead parent training sessions related to changes in curriculum and instructional practices.
    • Assist in developing and facilitating designated schoolwide professional development.

    Instructional Coach duties

    • Implement S.O.A.R - New Educator Support Program components (required coaching cycles, instructional planning assistance, and Faculty Formation participation) with all new teachers.
    • Develop and facilitate teacher workshops (Professional Development sessions, Lunch & Learns, Physical/Virtual training) to increase teacher capacity in using student assessment data to drive instructional decisions and improve learning outcomes.
    • Assist teachers in developing and achieving SMART growth goals.
    • Engage teachers and teaching assistants (TAs) across all levels in professional development, focusing on improving instructional quality through a research-based Jim Knight coaching model.
    • Provide personalized or small group coaching sessions and modeling of research-based instructional practices to enhance classroom environments and student performance.
    • Serve as a resource for teachers seeking support in instructional methods but not as part of any official teacher improvement plan (unless requested by the teacher).
    • Assist teachers, parents, and administrators in making informed decisions that support students' individual academic growth

    Other Duties:

    • Participate as a member of the Academic Team as requested by the DTL
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the DTL
    • All other duties as assigned; will take on additional responsibilities within reason.

    Leadership Responsibilities

    • Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience with success increasing student achievement.
    • Experience across multiple grade levels and subjects is helpful.
    • Experience implementing standards-based curriculum and report card systems.
    • Familiarity with Advanced Placement, AERO/Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, Structured Literacy and Writing models, and other North American standards/curricula.

    Driver & Mechanic

    Duties (Driver)

    • Pick students from designated bus pick up points to and from school.
    • Ensure students board and leave the bus in an orderly manner to prevent accidents.
    • Ensure safety belts are worn by every student.
    • Ensure vehicle is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water,
    • Battery and other crucial parts of the vehicle.
    • Report any unsafe behavior by a student to the relevant authority.
    • Maintain communication with the transport department through the two way radio.
    • Attend any relevant trainings as identified and agreed.
    • Ensure punctuality and safe transport.
    • Reporting any vehicle defects, faults, incident and accidents to the transport supervisor or the director of operations.
    • To liaise directly with parents when necessary.
    • Covering for absent employees when necessary. .
    • Observe the road and traffic laws and regulations.
    • Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including records of vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage, at end of each month.
    • Follow all school safety and health procedures and policies.
    • Performs duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

    Duties (Mechanic )

    • Assess vehicles / machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues
    • Performs repair and maintenance of school automotive equipment including tractors, generators, ride mowers, power sweepers, lawn mowers, hedge cutters, blowers, washing machines etc.
    • Determines the extent of repairs needed and estimates the cost of parts needed for repairs.
    • Work with the transport supervisor to give details of parts and spares required for machinery or vehicle repairs
    • Liaise with drivers to determine their automotive requirements and communicate vehicular defects or problems to the transport manager
    • Prioritize urgent repairs and work deliver with minimum supervision
    • Provide routine inspections of vehicles and inform transport supervisor of any issues
    • Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times
    • Maintains record of all repairs and maintenance work done.
    • Operates a variety of maintenance and repair tools and equipment in a safe manner.
    • Performs preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment.
    • Ensure a complete inventory of required parts and materials are in stock in the garage
    • and maintained.
    • Follow all school health and safety procedures and policies.
    • Performs duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
