    Dentist

    Responsibilities

    • Educating patients on their oral hygiene and dental care
    • Examining patient’s teeth and identifying or diagnosing any potential dental problems
    • Performing dental treatments such as fillings and teeth extractions, whitening, bridges etc.
    • Using technical equipment such as X-ray machines to identify potential issues
    • Keeping records for each patient
    • Working with a practice community oral health officer, receptionist,
    • Overseeing budgets
    • Maintaining stocks of equipment
    • Review x-ray images captured in the office to determine the health of the teeth and potential areas of concern
    • Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups)
    • Meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establishing a plan for better dental hygiene.

    Education:

    • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an Institution
    • Recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
    • Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board 2 years of experience.

    Experience:

    • At least two (2) years of working experience in a hospital setting.

    Radiographer

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Position the patient properly into the beam of the radiation/ultrasound source and adjusting the proper exposure techniques for the optimum film resolution with the least radiation exposure to the patient.
    • Place proper immobilization devices and protective shielding on the patient and take any protective measures for themselves and all other personnel in the radiation area.
    • Calculate the length and time of exposure for the diagnosis and/or treatment of the affected area by knowing which exposure techniques need to be used in terms of KV, MA and time.
    • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate clinical guidelines ensuring clinical effectiveness to optimise patient care.
    • Use the proper size image receptor and technically adjust it to record the maximum visualization of an anatomic structure
    • Ensure care, safety and physical comfort of the patient having radiographs
    • Develop the image by automatic processing methods plus CR Imaging and distinguishing acceptable radiographs for the radiologist to interpret.
    • Assemble completed radiographic exams with an appropriate file folder and maintain proper records.
    • Assure patient privacy/confidentiality and dignity.
    • Engage the patient during the scan and explain to them the results within the radiographer’s scope
    • Prepare accurate and clear reports to assist other clinical staff to make an accurate diagnosis
    • Carry out minor maintenance and cleaning of the equipment and report any malfunctions to the Head of the department.
    • Refer any complicated issues requiring specialist review to the Radiologist
    • Undertake any other duties assigned incidental to the work described herein.
    • Comply with relevant infection control and safety policies

    Qualifications, Experience and Competence:

    • A minimum of a Diploma in Radiography/Imaging Sciences and registered with the Society of Radiographers in Kenya or Radiation Protection Board of Kenya.
    • Minimum of three years’ progressive experience as a Radiographer.
    • The job holder must possess a valid license.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills

    Medical Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide efficient and effective assessment and management of the patients.
    • Following accepted professional guidelines for patients in the inpatient setting and outpatient.
    • Conduct regular ward rounds and ward work at a time that facilitates efficient patient flows and meets treatment objectives.
    • Carry out investigative and treatment procedures within the facility where possible.
    • Be responsible for the referral of any patients under your care to specialist treatment when appropriate.
    • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records for all patients seen.
    • Ensure that discharge summaries are completed by the team, ideally on time of discharge but otherwise within 24hrs of discharge.
    • Ensure that patients are given a full explanation of all procedures and treatments.
    • Ensure that informed consent is obtained from all patients before undertaking any test or procedures in accordance with the Hospital’s policy.
    • Ensure effective interpersonal relationships are maintained with staff and patients and families.
    • Work with the HOD and Service Manager to ensure that clinical practice is consistent with Specialist and national guidelines.
    • Contribute to the departmental clinical quality assurance system, including regular clinical audit, review of patient care (length of patient stay, mortality and morbidity reviews, audit, and regular clinical meetings).
    • Provide guidance and support to junior medical staff and interns in order to develop and maintain their Clinical practice

    Clinical Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conducting physical examinations of patients and interviewing them and their families to determine their health status, and recording patients’ medical information.
    • Refer patients who require more specialized assessment and care to specialized clinical officers, medical officers and consultant doctors as may be necessary
    • Admitting patients who require further specialized care in the acute setting
    • History taking and examination to diagnose patients.
    • Reviewing results of investigations undertaken by patients and adequately explaining the required management
    • Assisting the medical officers and consultants in carrying out specific procedures e.g. specialist investigations and minor surgical procedures
    • Making and maintaining adequate and comprehensive notes as both legal record of patient status and care and for the benefit of other healthcare professionals in the information system.
    • Administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiograms and laboratory tests.
    • Performing therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing and wound.care, and infection management.
    • Monitoring patients progress and response to treatment, and identifying signs and symptoms requiring referral to medical doctors.
    • Teaching and supervising junior clinical officers and clinical interns.
    • Participate in training programs and departments and hospital CMEs.
    • Comply with relevant infection control and safety policies.
    • Fill in necessary insurance claim forms.
    • Ensure excellent customer relations to all clients.

    Qualifications, Experience and Competence

    • Minimum of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a busy hospital setting
    • Valid registration, retention and practice license
    • Good knowledge of the principles of clinical medicine and their application
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Computer proficient
