    Call for Consultancy: Compilation of Climate Justice Advocacy Good Practices

    The expected deliverables are the following:

    • Inception Report: Detailing the methodology, tools for collecting data, proposed work schedule and agreeing on the criteria  for defining a good practice and timeline, and data sources within two weeks of contract commencement.
    • A draft report of good practices in reducing carbon emissions and climate justice advocacy led by faith-based organizations - FBO. The report will document relevant projects, initiatives, and strategies implemented by FBOs, including those supported by the LWF. The report will include sections on the methodology, used for data collection and analysis, including criteria for selecting good practices, and a breakdown of the key findings.
    • A final report will provide detailed descriptions of the selected initiatives and include between 8 to 10 good practices/ case studies of a maximum of 4 pages per case (excluding photos and annexes). The report will provide recommendations for enhancing the role of FBOs in climate mitigation and carbon emission reduction. These will include suggestions for strengthening advocacy, improving collaboration between FBOs and governments, and promoting greater support from international climate frameworks.
    • A presentation summarizing the key findings of the report showcasing best practices and recommendations. This will be used for internal and external dissemination among stakeholders.

    These deliverables are to be: 

    •  Prepared in English 

    Suggested time frame and period of the assignment 

    The assignment will take place from Nov 2024 – Jan 2025. 

    Methodology

    This methodology should integrate the following:

    • Checklist as first guidance for identification and setting of categories of good practices.
    • Guidance for the characterization of good practice selection and analysis.
    • Template for the compilation and analysis of the selected good practices
    • It is expected that data collection will be done remotely.

    Qualifications and Experience of the consultant(s)

    • Proven experience in climate justice related work.
    • Proven track record of conducting similar work of international.
    • development programs, including programs implemented in different geographical regions.
    • Experience in conducting remote research (online interviews, surveys etc.).
    • Excellent writing skills in English.
    • Ability to communicate in Spanish as some of the LWF initiatives are in LAC.
    • Experience in working with faith-based organizations.
    • Knowledge of LWF and the ACT Alliance members an advantage.

    Call for Consultancy: Lutheran World Federation Advocacy Framework 2025 – 2031

    Overall Goal

    • To revise the LWF Advocacy Framework in view of the new strategic direction 
    • of the organization as elaborated in the LWF Strategy 2025 - 2031

    Objectives

    • Study the LWF Strategy 2025-2031 and identify the key advocacy aspects 
    • Study the global, regional, national and local contexts and identify relevant trends, processes and structures that LWF Advocacy should engage with.
    • Work closely with LWF thematic experts within the Action for Justice unit do develop the relevant chapters of the Advocacy Framework.
    • Present drafts to the Expert Advisory Group (EAG) and other LWF structures/stakeholders, and include their feedback and inputs in subsequent drafts.

    Expected deliverable    

    A well written publication - the LWF Advocacy Framework 2025 – 2031 document (approximately 20 pages) in English (AmE)

    Methodology and key activities

    To be developed by the consultant in consultation with the relevant LWF colleagues.

     Qualifications and Experience of the consultant(s)

    • Proven experience in advocacy work in a global Christian/Ecumenical humanitarian, development and advocacy organization.
    • Proven record of developing strategies, in particular advocacy strategies.
    • Experience in conducting consultations with diverse stakeholders including through online interviews, surveys etc.
    • Excellent writing skills in English.   
    • Knowledge of the LWF is an advantage.

    Data Management Officer

    Overall purpose of the role:

    Under the guidance of the PMER Officer, the Data Management Officer is responsible for leading the Programme Data management and use for the key thematic areas of Protection, Social Cohesion and Quality Services sectors.

    The DMO will ensure the collection, validation, processing, maintenance and reporting and dissemination of data, and maintenance of data management systems. He/she will help the PMER officer in developing and maintaining the MIS of the Project and will be responsible for the collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities. The Data Management Officer will work in close collaboration with the field project team to ensure reported project data meets the required data quality standards.

    Responsibilities:

    Data Monitoring & Data Quality

    • Lead and manage the Program Data Management work stream activities and ensure that program related data in the program area is accurate and timely to support decision making and reporting.
    • Review/develop data collection tools to harmonize data collection and processes and ensure all staff adhere to its usage and guidelines
    • Conduct monthly data quality audits (DQA) to ensure accuracy and validity of data collected in compliance with data management SOPs.

    Data Analysis

    • Carry out basic data analysis and provide feedback on the patterns that consistently be used by the management for decision making.
    • Facilitate collaboration with Technical Leads to use data trends to inform program implementation and project perfromance
    • Conduct additional analyses in support of understanding program performance and opportunities for improvement
    • Collaborate with project teams to track progress on project objectives and indicators and inform implementation strategy using monitoring data

    Data system Development

    • Develop, design and regularly review data management SOPs to document processes for data collection, storage, sharing, and transfer
    • Support data collection for ongoing studies/ assessments in collaboration with Programs teams
    • Continuous data cleaning in the ActivityInfo database
    • Additional DMO responsibilities
    • Contribute to capacity building of the project team on data management
    • Any other duty, as guided by line manager

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science or ICT
    • At least 2 years of progressively responsible and directly relevant professional experience in a humanitarian context, with at least 1 year of data management experience in preferably Protection and Education programs in INGO context.
    • Possess working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, laws and standards – Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), Sphere Minimum Standards, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Rights Based Approach (RBA) and Gender Age Marker.
    • Experience in dealing with sensitive socio-political situations and working and living under pressure in unstable security environments and with long and irregular working hours would be an added advantage.
    • Experience with mobile Data Collection tools and techniques using Ms. Excel, ActivityInfo and Kobo Collect tools.
    • Experience developing and supporting data analysis (basic descriptive statistics) and visualizations for M&E ideally using Ms. Excel, SPSS, Power BI or Tableau.
