Duties and Responsiblities
An officer at this level will be responsible for:
- Organizing, directing, coordinating and administering teaching and research activities;
- Designing laboratory/workshop safety procedures for staff and students;
- Development of alternative laboratory/workshop methods and techniques in order to cope with changing technology;
- Coordinating the production of Laboratory manuals by members of staff in the department;
- Compiling of laboratory equipment and supplies;
- Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate practicals;
- Supervision of technical staff in the department;
- Planning, designing and developing teaching and research activities in liaison with the Chair of Department;
- Providing professional support to improve and manage the consultancy services undertaken in the laboratories;
- Identifying the training needs for technical staff in liaison with the Chair of Department;
- designing and structuring training sessions in laboratory safety to ensure good laboratory practice;
- Performing inspection of all laboratories to ensure they conform te acceptable standards; and
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
- Have Master’s degree in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized university;
- Have computer skills in relevant packages;
- Have served in the grade of Senior Technician or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years;
- Be registered by the relevant professional body; and
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results,

Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will be responsible for;
- Cleaning of glassware and apparatus for teaching and research;
- Dusting of all equipment used for teaching and research;
- Ensuring the storage of chemicals/materials in clean, well labeled shelves arranged in order;
- Keeping the Laboratory clean, proper arrangement of the laboratory;
- Setting of equipment for practical’s and demonstrations;
- Collection and preparation of teaching and research materials;
- Ensuring safe keeping and disposal of waste left behind after practical’s:
- Carrying out basic routine analysis in relevant discipline in the laboratory;
- Supervising Technical Assistants; and
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this grade, an officer must:-
- Have Diploma in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Have computer skills in relevant packages from a recognized institution;
- Have served in the grade of Assistant Technician or in a comparable and relevant position for at least three (3) years;
- Be licensed or licensable by the relevant professional body; and
- Have shown merit.and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities
An individual appointed as a Lecturer shall:
- teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- supervise undergraduate students’ projects and other experiential learning programmes;
- supervise dissertations/theses at postgraduate level;
- participate in the development/ review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses:
- initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
- provide professional and community services, and initiate strategic training and research partnerships and finkages, and undertake fundraising for the University; and
- carry out administrative and such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-
have a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from an accredited recognized academic institution;
- have a minimum of twelve (12) research publication output points from refereed scholarly journals and two (2) points from publications in conference proceedings,
OR
- have a minimum of thirty two (32) publication points if the applicant is from a research institution,
OR
- have a minimum of six (6) publication points if the applicant is from practice/industry,
- show evidence of evaluated effective teaching and / or research;
- show evidence of recognition and registration by the relevant regulatory body where applicable; and
- show evidence of membership or affiliation of the relevant professional body where applicable.

- initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
- participate in academic leadership programmes;
- provide professional and community services, and initiate strategic training and research partnerships and linkages, and undertake fundraising for the University; and
- carry out administrative and such other duties & responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-
- have a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) or its academic equivalent from an accredited/recognized academic institution;
- have a cumulative or evidence of three (3) years of teaching/research experience at University level since becoming Lecturer/Research Fellow;
- have research output points comprising at least twenty four (24) points from refereed scholarly journals, six (6) points from postgraduate students’ supervision and two (2) points from publications in conference proceedings since appointment to the position of Lecturer;
- show evidence of having developed proposals that have attracted funding to the University;
- have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars or workshops;
- show evidence of continued evaluated effective teaching and research;
- show evidence of contribution to University service through active participation in Departmental matters, students’ academic advising, and School and University meetings and committee membership, among others;
- show evidence of recognition and registration by the relevant regulatory bodies where applicable; and
- show evidence of membership or affiliation to the relevant professional body where applicable
