    Advocacy & Marketing Manager

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Advocacy and Policy

    • Work with the Country Program Director and relevant departments to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic advocacy initiatives to influence change and promote AHF’s work at National and County levels. This includes setting country advocacy priorities.
    • Lead advocacy efforts for policy change and implement approved policies in close collaboration with country teams.
    • Work with the Africa Bureau Advocacy and Marketing team in the preparation of advocacy materials, including policy briefs, position papers, communication messages, and any other material relevant to ongoing policy and advocacy campaigns.
    • Keep abreast of research & policy development and debates in Kenya, relevant to the issues pertinent to the fight against HIV/AIDS, particularly issues of prevention and treatment.
    • In close collaboration with the Bureau and Global Advocacy Teams, develop a clear strategy for positioning AHF’s led policy and advocacy agenda/initiatives that will critically influence in-country strategies and an implementation plan for its efficient delivery.
    • Build and/or strengthen strategic relations with key agencies of government, NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, PLHIV Networks and other relevant stakeholders and institutions.
    • Strengthen AHF Kenya’s Parliamentary and high-level engagements and participation in relevant technical working groups and partner’s forums at all levels.
    • Lead the drafting of press briefs/releases to promote a sustained public profile of AHF Kenya’s work and key advocacy issues and ensure regular engagement with the media working in closely with Bureau and Global advocacy and marketing departments and PR firm. This will also include creating, developing, and maintaining good relations with Kenya’s and sub regional media.
    • Prepare and widely share best practices from AHF in Treatment and care
    • Communicate regularly and report all policy and advocacy issues/concerns in a timely manner.
    • Support AHF Kenya’s Girls Act implementation and expansion working closely with the Prevention Program Manager.
    • Take lead in developing AHF Kenya’s advocacy plan to inform country advocacy and policy focus.
    • Coordinate and assume responsibility for the timely compilation and submission of all Advocacy and Marketing plans, budgets, and reports.
    • Participate in all Country, Bureau and Global Advocacy and Marketing meetings.

    Marketing

    • Work with the Bureau Advocacy and Marketing department to develop, roll out and monitor AHF Kenya Marketing Strategy to maximize public awareness/engagement, advocacy, behavioral change, and service referral in line with organization’s strategic priorities.
    • Take lead in developing/implementing innovative country marketing plans in consultation with the Country Program Director and relevant departments in line with country needs and specific campaigns.
    • Work with the Bureau and Global teams to develop and roll out AHF Kenya marketing KPIs and M & E tools to evaluate and measure the impact of the marketing plan/approaches.
    • Work with the Bureau Advocacy and Marketing department to develop and roll out AHF Kenya protocols for marketing work during emergencies and duress.
    • Develop best practices in key population sensitive marketing.
    • Work with AHF Kenya country team to develop common program framework that integrates marketing in the country program design.
    • Publicize organizational events and publications through creative approaches.
    • Ensure that marketing is focused on people – the communities we serve, and the impact of our collective action with more participatory and interactive approaches and messaging.
    • Work within existing AHF branding guidelines to support brand identity building and visibility. Actively support the country program in defining and translating branding guidelines into actual implementable projects
    • Own the development of branding initiatives, narrative and creative messaging, aligning to existing guidelines, and in close partnership with bureau and global advocacy, policy & marketing department
    • Work with the Country Program Director to develop, maintain and grow digital platform usage and interactions such as website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Webinars etc.
    • Coordinate and maintain records of all AHF Kenya events and build a data base for the same. This includes building media databases.
    • Build relationships with county authorities to ensure consistent buy-in of AHF Kenya initiatives and services in a county.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, human rights, mass communication, community development or any other relevant degree, with 7 years of experience related to Advocacy, Policy, and Marketing.
    • Experience in advocacy program development and implementation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge working with various local and international development partners, and Proven experience in building and sustaining strategic networks and partnerships.
    • Sustained experience in popular mobilization and Policy Advocacy work at a national level, and sound knowledge of the Kenya’s HIV National Prevention, Treatment, and policy guidelines.
    • Relevant experience in policy analysis, lobbying, creating policy and advocacy briefs, policy summations and media.
    • Experience in HIV prevention/Treatment messaging, campaigns, and media.
    • Ability to work in a public sector environment to accomplish goals and favorably influence decision making processes in a diplomatic and collaborative manner.
    • Experience working in and around public health systems is an added advantage.
    • Excellent communication skills in a multicultural environment.
    • Ability to work in a team
