    Head of Investments Analysis & Risk Management

    General Responsibilities

    • Governance: Works with the FI Expert Team (ET) Leader in order to fulfill the organization mission.
    • Responsible for leading Lean team of investment readiness analysts and/or Agri-value chain specialists, consultants and/or interns in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the organization.
    • Responsible for communicating effectively with the internal and external project leads and providing in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the IA & RM unit to function properly and to enable the FI ET leader to make informed decisions.
    • Performance and Viability: Perform economic forecast, conduct field programs social economic research, investment research, and investment deal structuring to ensure the health (risk management) of the business deals.
    • Responsible for investment analysis, deal structuring and risk management to support IFDC Strategic mission.
    • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of FI data (for both internal and external clients), to include submission of viable investments readiness clients and accurately reflect the risk inherent in every business dealing (transaction advisory).
    • Responsible for resource management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and sustainability of FI ET.

    Actual Job Responsibilities

    • Deals Execution, and Portfolio Management
    • Develops and reviews financial models and conducts financial sensitivity analyses for the Investment proposals.
    • Evaluates Investment proposals and Investment risks of the deals; identify, measure, and mitigate the risk of new transactions and make recommendations regarding deal structuring, and pricing.
    • Identifies areas of exposure within the institution with regards to ESG and Climate Risk, develop mitigating factors, implementation, and monitoring tools.
    • Maintain relations by visiting project/client’s business collecting data and understanding the economies of the business for advisory services.
    • Manage knowledge and understanding of the entrepreneurial and impact investing in the agri-business projects and their value chains.
    • Preparation and negotiation of legal documentation for the client with the support of the legal department/ contract (lawyers).
    • Conducts industry research and associated analysis to inform strategy, portfolio, and new business decisions.
    • Supervise and manage investment readiness and value chain/consultants/interns’ team of experts.
    • Drafts Investments approval documents and supports the process for transactions with existing project/clients.
    • Evaluating the Investment worthiness of potential FI project/customers and ensuring that all pre-disbursement conditions are met specifically Technical Assistant Facilities and/or arranger fees and commissions.
    • Provides capacity strengthening (training, coaching, and mentoring) to internal and external clients funding of FI activities to ensure increased revenue and impact from their operations.
    • Monitoring of the current portfolio to ensure the book maintains positive revenues.

    Required Skills

    Required Experience

    • Finance & Accounting Professional with an average of 8 years experience in diverse disciplines in Finance including but not limited to financial reporting and analysis, auditing, corporate finance, portfolio management, and derivatives analysis.
    • Highly experienced financial analyst and business strategist.
    • Transformational leader fuelled by the challenge of delivering high top and bottom-line value.
    • Passionate about business planning, implementation, and monitoring while instituting relevant compliance measures & controls.
    • Well-versed in the for-profit and nonprofit leading in complex multi-funded programs and projects.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, and/or a related field, and a master's degree is desirable.
    • 8 years or more years with 5 years in senior audit/credit analysts post for profit (in Agri-finance) and 3 years non-profit management experience.
    • High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, division heads, volunteers, and donors.
    • Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
    • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
    • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
    • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
    • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
    • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
