    Legal Officer II/Commercial Services

    Detailed Description        
    This is the entry and training grade for Degree holders in this cadre. Duties and responsibilities in this position shall entail assisting in: -

    • Reviewing contracts and agreements to identify clauses that could lead to disputes ,ensuring terms protect the Authority’s interests,
    • Drafting, negotiating and vetting contracts, leases and other legal instruments,
    • Handling conveyancing matters touching on the Authority’s lands and mortgage by staff,
    • Provision of internal guidance to departments on contractual or conveyancing matters, risks and strategies to mitigate them, supporting informed decision making,
    • Preparing and maintaining requisite reports to the Board and Management,
    • Closely work with other departments to align commercial strategies with organizational goals and governance standards,
    • Developing and implementing strategies to minimize legal and financial risks including proactive measures   on how  to avoid contractual disputes,
    • Representing the Authority and Kenya in International Fora aimed at presenting the position of Kenya in ICT sector and policy formulation, Development of the departmental budget.

    Job Requirements        

    For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

    • Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognised institution,
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law,
    • Registration as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
    • Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya or any other relevant professional body in good standing,,
    • Valid Practicing Certificate,
    • Proficiency in Computers Applications,
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
