    Public Information Officers (Communication for Resource Mobilization and Brand), P4

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a communication strategy in support of UNEP’s resource mobilization efforts, with specific focus on core and flexible funding to the Environment Fund and Thematic Funds. This includes:
    • supporting efforts to position UNEP as the go-to agency on the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution and waste.
    • communicating the importance of core and flexible funding to UNEP’s mandate.
    • improved visibility to donors.
    • Produce a brand manual for resource mobilization team and oversee its rollout across UNEP platforms and outputs.
    • Lead and coordinate brand building efforts at high visibility events including UN Environment Assembly, celebrity fundraising engagement and new partnerships. This includes:
    • Working with UNEP's Partnership and Resource Mobilization Unit, the regional information offices, and other offices and divisions, to inform their efforts in communicating for resource mobilization.
    • Leading and supporting celebrity fundraising opportunities, including organizing events and overseeing the deployment of the Goodwill Ambassadors and other influential voices.
    • Producing communication assets in support of UNEP's resource mobilization efforts, including writing and editing content, coordinating across writers and multimedia experts to produce content for digital use, and proposing new opportunities and crafting new tools and materials to increase the effectiveness of the strategy.
    • Coordinating communication for key high visibility, brand building opportunities, such as the United Nations Environment Assembly.
    • Forging new partnerships to extend the reach and engagement of the Division's outputs.
    • Raising new funds for key communication and brand building activities that promote UNEP.
    • Leading and supporting the organization-wide coordination of other tasks related to UNEP's brand.
    • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
    • Performs other duties as required.

Strong analytical skills and ability to rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied multimedia and digital sources.     Education

    • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, or equivalent) in communication, marketing or related fields is required.
    • A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communication is required.
    • At least three (3) years’ experience in working with funding partners with a proven track record of securing funding is desirable.
    • At least one (1) year experience working for a large international organization is desirable.
    • Two (2) years of experience working for an environment or science-focused organization is desirable.
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Languages

    • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
