Remuneration
- Basic Salary per month range: Kshs. (144, 450 – 200,918 /=)
- House Allowance per month: Kshs. (58,972/=)
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Must possess an earned PhD, Masters and Bachelors Degree in Communication or related field from an accredited/recognized University;
- Must possess at least three (3) years teaching/research experience at Lecturer or Research Fellow level with a proven track record of exemplary performance;
- Must have successfully supervised at least three (3) Masters level or one (1) PhD level student to completion since the last appointment;
- Must have published at least three (3) papers in peer refereed journals or three (3) chapters in a scholarly book or one (1) scholarly book since the last appointment;
- Must be a member of a relevant professional body; and
- Must demonstrate evidence of attracting research funds, development and review of curriculum.
Duties and responsibilities for academic staff
- Teaching undergraduate students and or postgraduate (in writing good academic proposal and publications) and supervise students’ research;
- Preparing learning and teaching materials to enable better delivery of content and achievement of the objectives of the course;
- Delivering the course content to students through lectures ensuring that they follow the curriculum objectives;
- Evaluating the delivery models and make appropriate improvements to ensure quality teaching and learning;
- Setting, moderating, invigilating and marking exams in order to gauge the effectiveness ofteaching and learning;
- Carrying out a needs assessment for curriculum; identify the content gaps in order toproduce competent graduates;
- Developing and reviewing the curriculum and ensure that it complies with the Commission forUniversity Education guidelines and that is relevant to the job market and the standing ofthe University;
- Carrying out research in their areas of specialization by writing grant proposals, publishing and disseminating research results to create and enhance knowledge;
- Disseminating research result through publications, conferences, workshops to make knowledge accessible to the public;
- Managing research grants and project, prepare budgets for the respective funds and ensure good and appropriate use of the same;
- Developing work plans and timelines to ensure the objectives of the research are well achieved;
- Preparation of reports as required by funding agencies e.g. financial reports and research output;
- Provision of consultancy services with key stakeholders in areas of expertise for improved social-economic development;
- Creating, maintaining and expanding linkages with both local and international through networking to improve individual and institutional visibility;
- Serving as an expert in local and international committees and panels ensuring appropriate dissemination of knowledge;
- Participation in the University open day, field day, exhibition for the enhancements of the image of the University.

- Must possess at least three (3) years’ experience in Grade 12 or equivalent in the Public Sector;
- Must possess at least nine (9) years’ working experience in Public Sector procurement with hands on experience in procurement ERP systems and business workflow since attainment of a bachelors degree in the relevant field;
- Must be knowledgeable on Public Sector procurement legal requirements and related administrative processes and procedures
- Must be a registered member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management;
- Must demonstrate professional competence in undertaking procurement work;
- Must possess excellent report writing, conflict management, negotiation skills, Leadership skills, organizational, good Interpersonal relationship, teamwork, time management, communication, decision making and problem solving skills;
- Must be proficient in computer applications;
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills;
- Experience in a University setting and possession of a Postgraduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies or any other relevant qualifications will be an added advantage.

- Manage and Control the budgets and consolidating procurement plans from differentdepartments;
- Monitor compliance with the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements;
- Coordinate formulation and implementation of policies to guide the procurement process in theinstitution;
- Develop Work Plans in the department to assist in the smooth running of the Department;
- Control procurement procedures within the statutory framework in order to avoid malpractices andmisappropriation of funds in the institution;
- Supervise, train and develop the procurement team in order to achieve a good efficient andcompetent team;
- Oversee the process of tendering and quotations in accordance with the relevant legalrequirements;
- Monitor compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal Act t and other procurement relatedlegal requirements in the department and across all units in the institution;
- Communicate to bidders on tenders outcome according to the legal provisions and the bestpractice.
- Ensure the goods are purchased,inspected, accepted and stored well;
- Prepare briefs for the negotiation committee during the evaluation process;
- Carry out market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability;
- Recommend disposal of unserviceable stores, works and equipment; and

- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills;

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in management and control of the inventory in the stores;
- Control procurement procedures within the statutory framework in order to avoid malpractices and misappropriation of funds in the institution;
- Supervise, train and develop the procurement team in order to achieve a good efficient and competent team;
- Participate in the process of tendering and quotations as stipulated in the law;
- Prepare contract documents which assist in the tendering process;
- Process user requisitions from user department to ensure constant smooth running of operations;
- Maintain the standing list of updated registered list of prequalified suppliers as per the statutory laws;
- Plan and coordinate sensitization meetings to create awareness on Government procurement opportunities;
- Ensure the goods are inspected, accepted and stored well;
- Coordinate the disposal of obsolete and unserviceable works, goods and services in the institution;
- Asset management, by ensuring all assets in the institution are bar coded and accounted for at all times; and
- Perform any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time.
